Im 16 years old 5 foot 7 and 150 pounds and dropping weight. I want to get into boxing I need to know what would be a nice weight to stay at and can i start training in a local gym immediately
or will i have to drop the weight first?

Just get there dude, and let the weight stuff sort itself out. Once you start working out, learning the sport, and if you get into a regimented routine...your natural weight will sort itself out. Most importantly, just get there. Then, be patient.
I was pretty scared the first time I walked in, but soon came to realize there wasn't anything at all to fear, and that near everyone is a bit scared going in.
