Default Darren Barker to fight Chavez Jr in Mexico

According to today's boxing news Darren Barker is being lined up to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Mexico in late March. This is assuming he comes through his fight with Manfredo. However the article goes on to say Australia's IBF Champion Daniel Geale could be coming to the UK to take on Barker next year. Would be nice to see him fight either.

They really wanna put Chavez Jr in with Barker after his solid showing against Martinez??
Fair play to them if so..maybe trying to get one up on Martinez?
Agree that Barker deserves some decent, world level fights from now on.

See, this is what I like..a British fighter who doesn't have all that bullshit Frank Warren, Hennesey (insert protective British promoters name here) type hype behind him and can actually box.

    Go Barker!

Chavez needs to get by Manfredo first.. It's so disrespectful when they release newses like that..

I dont think much of Chaves Jr, and he will be lucky to keep his title 12month's? is Barker the man to take
it I am not to sure.
Are they about the same level may be, it could be a good fight and i dont think Barker is the best at his weight in this country any how.?

I hope Jcc Jr lose against Man Jr. Why would going after a person that lose to the best in that weight class have any creditabilty? Martinez is available!!!
    Make no sense to me.

Dude, forget this country, who else in the world could have put on a solid showing like that against the number 3/4 P4P fighter in the world?

Could have been his awkward, defensive style but after that performance he is definitely the best middleweight in the U.K. If you're talking about Groves or DeGale, those boys still have a lot to prove. They're getting there though.

Barkers performance against Martinez surely warrants him another title shot? I'm not sure there's many other fighters out there Martinez would have that kind of trouble with. He seems a good bloke also so all the best to him if the fight comes off.

The best middleweight in the UK is Gregorz Proksa.

I like Barker over Chavez Jr. assuming Chavez Jr. gets by Manfredo Jr., which isn't a lock by any means.

I'm not saying he's going to be pound 4 pound number one or anything, just thought he proved in that fight he should be fighting at that level now?

Barker doesnt have enough at world level. Martinez isnt even a proper middle. Neither is Williams.

Yes Martinez beat two great fighters, one is a drunk and the other well i would say Mary Poppin's had a better chin.

I would watch the fight. I think it would be an interesting match up. I would give the edge to Barker so it may not make sense to Chavez Jr. His team has worked so diligently to maintain his "0". I would think they would rather go down in a blaze of glory and get a big pay day.
