I think Toney's at the mercy of Dana White and what he wants to do. If Dana wants to try to prove to the world that MMA fighters are better than boxers he'll throw Toney in with a talented grappler that he'll have no chance against. However, he may see this as an opportunity to further capitalize on UFC growing and boxing dying down the past few years, and feed Toney less skilled guys he can KO, possibly trying to lure other boxers into the UFC.

This is sad.Circus comes to town...I think White is banking on Toneys past media brashness and shtick much more than his physical abilities.Sadly Toney may be doing the same.UFc is feeding on another carcass here.Toney is ...was a great, a master boxer...not this.

Wow i really dont have much 2 say on this one but i'd love to see him Kimbo's sorry ass.... I feel like how can he possibly make it? Didn't he get knocked down by a Jab when he fought Sam Peters and rolled like a butter ball? I cant he even imagine how he would react to a good leg kick lol... Am i the only one thinking that?

The UFC will want Toney to win a couple of fights at least to get as many boxing fans paying attention to MMA so they're going to start him off with tomato cans. They'll bring him along gradually, they're making an investment there and they're not going to blow it in his first fight.

The rumour has it that Toney will be fighting Kimbo Slice in his first fight, then the winner to fight the winner of Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. Kimbo's next fight against Mitrone has been pulled so this rumour looks to have some weight behind it. Still a joke though.

Dana fed Brock to a shark in his first fight, giving him Frank Mir, I dont see him doing the same with Toney, hence the Slice fight.

A garden brawler against one of the most skilled boxing technicians of the lasy 20 years doesnt seem like a fair fight at all. But if Kimbo can take Toney down like he did Houston Alexander, then the waters may become very deep for Toney.

Either way, I hate Toneys aquisition to the UFC.

Yep to your proper fight fan this is a joke, but like someone said previously it's all about the ratings.....

It seems man to man combat hasn't moved very far from the big top after all....

Just read that Randy Couture has 'tweeted' via his blog that he wants to the be first to fight Toney. Ouch !! That is throwing Toney to the sharks, he'd get eaten alive.

I'm not sure where he is at now to be honest pal, but it would be a huge struggle. Randy would take the fight at HW anyway, so thats not an issue. But Toney would need to get to 205 to fight Chuck or Tito forsure.

JFAT is probably the only Heavyweight I can think of that encounters weigh-in's in the same way most other fighters do outside of the heavyweight division do... In the sense that he strips down in weight to as much as he see fit, looks pretty good at the weigh in, then BANG he blows up to JFAT proportions again.

I think that what ever he does, he'll always wind up a fat git come fight night

They could always throw Toney with the other UFC fat lad, Roy Nelson.

I think that Kirkland did sum it up pretty well: It is to get the Boxing fans attention plus, they signed him for a couple of fights. The last thing they want is to burn their new well paid dog to get burn at the first occasion and to stop dragging interests. Kimbo's the perfect fit for him: Limited on the ground (though always improving), ordinary boxing, good strength and a very shit chin, nothing Toney can't crush, especially as Kimbo's days in the UFC are counted anyway. What's next? Not sure, Ortiz-Liddell winner can make sense as they are bot shot now but still drag a lot of attention, if Liddell wins, it'll be better as he has (I think) stylewise less chances against Toney than Ortiz who has a good ground game.

All in all, as much as some of us might dislike it, it was a wise move by White.

Toney is going to get ruined in the UFC is he doesn't take time to learn the ground game. Couture would handle him within a round.
