Default Manny Steward tipped Hatton to beat Mayweather!

Found these quotes on another board, not sure when they from..

    Manny Steward -

"No, Mayweather's definitely not the perfect fighter. He's very fortunate in the fighters he's beaten. The timing was very good on those particular nights. I know the behind the scenes stories. But if someone crowds him and puts pressure on him - and gets close to him before they punch - not punching from a distance - pressure - and then punching right when they get on top of him - he will have problems."

"Ricky Hatton was able to beat Kostya Tszyu because Kostya Tszyu (preferred to fight) at a distance where he could control and analyze things - he was great with boxers. When I talked with Ricky Hatton - because I had helped Vince Phillips to beat (Tszyu) - even though I didn't work the corner, he trained at the Kronk Gym (in 2000). And I said (to Hatton), Don't be intelligent, just be an animal. And keep putting pressure and don't punch till you're very close. And that's what happened in both fights where Kostya Tszyu lost. The same patterns could work against Floyd Mayweather."

"Ricky has all the tools to beat Floyd, he's the one guy who can really do it, for sure. He closes the distance faster than any fighter in the sport, and his defense is based on subtle head movements-see Tszyu fight. He has the dexterity to get his shots off on the way in and from almost no room or time, he can switch hands as fast as Floyd, he can even switch the angle off his punch in mid-motion. I know, because we used his gym when Tommy (Hearns) was fighting over there (in Manchester). And this guy, this guy never tires, it's like he's got other motors to call on. He's an incredible specimen, Ricky."

I've been saying all this for years, no one closes the gap like ricky, his bob and weave is strange timing, and his secret is the way he shifts his weight leverages. He's a genuine conterpuncher.

Apparently theres more to him that that

Na i do agree that Ricky on top form has the Style to give Floyd hell... Always have.
Its just a shame that the likelyhood of it happening is slimmer than ever now.

Still, we have our imagination.... And Fight Night Round 3

Wise words from Manny, probs one of, if not the most respected trainers in the game today. He knows what he's talking about

I remember watching the Hearns fight, it was about 3-4 years ago i think, at Lightheavy. It was more like a sparring session really, although great to see a HOF come over and show us his somewhat now diminshed skills.

Why is Floyd not on FN, any reasons for this? Did they not offer him enough money to feature on this, or possibly if he was on FN the is a chance his character may lose a fight

That Ricky is fat outside of camp.

    Hope this helps.

As Borat would say "YOU ARE A FAT!!!"
Although I'm sure thats not true because he's 2 weeks into his full camp, so he's definatly nothing like as chubby as say 2 months ago.

I was a Hatton fan anyway but that was a good vid to showcase Hatton, some ignorant haters seem to think Hatton is just a brawler/slugger and a Hatton/Maywaether fight would be another Mayweather/Baldomir...I dont think so.

    Good for Manny Steward.

You know...on top of Manny tipping Hatton to beat Mayweather...he tipped Hearns to beat Hagler too...look where that got him.

If that's too deep a comparison...then he also tipped Wlad to beat Brewster...look where that got him.

    Keep on tipping Manny.

I don't think Mayweather / Hatton would be a shut out like Mayweather / Baldomir, but Mayweather would school Hatton, it would look just like
    Mayweather / Castillo 2.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
