Kovalev doesn't much care for bodyshots....Canelo will be sure to throw those. Bigger question, has Canelo started cycling yet?

It’s a typical Canelo match up. He will fight a guy who used to be a good fighter, but over five years into his decline. Kovalev hasn’t looked good since well before the Ward fight, and by all accounts he abuses his body in between fights.

He has a good jab and is a good ‘backwards and forwards in straight lines’ technician.

But he has shown weakness to the body and an inability to fight at short range. Canelo will beat him up if he walks him down like he showed he could do the second time against GGG. Kovalev is quite easy to hit, and he has shown lots of signs of quitting when he isn’t getting his way. Canelo does have a good chin so I don’t see how Kov can stop him.

Incidentally, I don’t agree that Kovalev will be the biggest puncher that Alvarez has faced - I always thought Golovkin hit harder, and with more accuracy.

I rate Canelo but this is crazy talk!
It’s how you diminish everything, doesn’t matter what you do if you tear it down before it’s done. I mean, let’s look at recent history, have fighters had great success jumping 2 divisions? No. Were these really good fighters trying it? Yes. So maybe it’s hard. So what Sergei is a chump? No.

I hate Canelo, I don’t even like the idea of him fighting Kovalev. I want him to fight Charlo, fight Andrade, fight BJS FFS. Fight the guys at 160. But my hatred for Canelo isn’t going to make me ignore he has fought really good fighters. That is what we should want from fighters.

So Canelo has had advantages, what about Loma fighting Walters in a desperate situation, fighting Rigo in s desperate situation. That doesn’t get talked about. So the difference between the 2 is a Canelo has fought the better fighters and is currently fighting champions. Not Pedraza’s, not Crolla’s, not Campbell’s. But Canelo gets torn down while Loma is just the best because he looks like it. Nobody cares Berchelt has called him out for years. Nobody cares people at TR were quite open that Bob would never let him fight Mikey. Not a damn peep for one guy. It’d be fine if people would just admit the double standard. The elephant is on its hind legs breaking the chandelier, acknowledge it.

I have always had problems with Loma and his competition which is why I rate Crawford above him. One thing I will say is that Loma hasn’t had the quality around him that Canelo has. Lightweight is already a big weight class for him. I honestly wish he would go down a weight and fight Berchelt and Davis. Although he has called out Davis before but Davis didn’t want it.

    Danny Williams?
    Lol..Jacobs.

Either way, Canelo is not searching for greatness..the Franchise King will do everything in his power to avoid a 3rd fight with GGG or even fight a BJS who holds a belt at 168..how about Andrade?

At the 30 day weigh in Loma was 144.5. He’s not small at LW. The idea he is is not supported by the facts. I get the thought but the facts disagree with the thought.

I remember seeing Crawford, Loma and Rigo together. Loma was much closer to Crawford’s size than Rigo was to his. You can find that easy enough, I just can’t post pictures on this site for some reason or I’d post it for ya

But Lomachenko, supposedly the top guy in the sport and surely one of the top guys, has never fought the best guy in a division and fights consecutively a guy who was DOMINATED by Tank Davis and moved up, Anthony Crolla and Luke Campbell without so much as a peep about him cherry picking.

Why would people have higher expectations of Canelo if everyone thinks Loma is the better fighter? Or is it not higher expectations for Canelo but rather lower expectations for Loma?

Do me a favor. Forget it's me asking the questions, because that will immediately draw your "you just hate Canelo" spiel.

Canelo fought "the best 147 guy". Who was that?..... out of morbid curiosity. Seriously..... I'm VERY curious.

"The best 154 guy". Who was that? Mosley? Trout? Cotto? Again... just trying to follow your logic here.

Mosley..... way past his prime at nearly 41 years old. Had won a grand total of 2 of his previous 6 fights. That Mosley?

Trout..... is that the one? Could be...... right? Ok, we'll let that one skate.

Cotto? The woefully undersized Cotto? I thought Cotto fought brilliantly and gave it all he had. But he never had the size to bother Canelo, who undoubtedly has a great chin. And let's face it. Cotto was never going to win a decision in Canelo's backyard.

    The best 160 pounder twice.

Wait...... not so fast. What did he do before that? Did he fight GGG right away? Strike while the iron was hot?

No. He waited for the fight to "marinate", waiting to "grow into 160" and what did he do? Remember? I'll jar your memory a little bit.

He snuck out for a foray at 170 with JCC Jr.

Only after he saw he could handle the weight against THAT mummy....... THEN he faced GGG twice, losing both times but being gifted the decisions by the corrupt Mexican mafia. (Of course, we all knew he was a bonafide 160 all along).

THEN..... he jumps up..... cherry picks Rocky Fielding for the fukking trinket (I know you don't like the cherry picking term but it applies perfectly here).

And NOW he's talking about jumping up to challenge Kovalev.

Ok. Now you can uncover your face and see who wrote this.

For someone who allegedly "hates Canelo", you certainly skip over some of the damning facts. I'm more than happy to fill in the obvious blanks.

    You're welcome.

Canelo's people see this as a good risk-reward proposition IMO. Kovelev is not a very good inside fighter and will be dismantled by Canelo’s wicked left hooks to the body. Once Kov weakens and tires—as he did against Yarde—the Redhead will look directly at the Russian’s stomach (as he did against James Kirkland) but throw a brutal right upstairs that the Russian will not see coming. He will be sedated ala Khan, Kirkland , Gomez, Baldamir, and others. The last guy to really wobble and hurt Canelo was Jose Cotto back in 2010. Thing is, Canelo has improved over the years and arguably is the best or second best one out there.

GGG does not hit harder than Kovalev.

Does A.Stevenson hit harder than Wilder?

Canelo fades after the 6th round and that’s the same with Kovalev.

Just imagine how prepared Kovalev will be for this fight..

Kovalev arguably beat a former P4P fighter in Ward in the first fight and will not tolerate being outboxed by a smaller franchise champion.

I rate Canelo but the sick, corrupt organisation behind him is allowing him to do whatever he wants..did we forget he’s a drug cheat.?!

If you do not think Canelo can win then you should be happy that he is taking on Kov and you will be proved right?

With NO CLAUSES! Fight him at 175. No hydration clauses or CW's. Fight the man. I dare him.

    No.

If Canelo does loose it’s the weight excuse..Canelo should be beating the best in his division..stay at 160 and beat Andrade, beat up GGG (convincingly) and fight BJS at 168 for another belt..then after that, around early 2021 Kovalev will be old enough and less of a risk for the fight to be happen.

It’s all talk at the moment..nothing signed.

No way. Don't let him use that chance to 'beat' Kovalev. Fight him now at 175 and get done what he did to Khan. Look cheeky for a few rounds and then get Krushed. It's what he wants. Go for it.
