I believe you said "That's out of over a billion people" so again...low percentage total (14.6%) but still a shit ton of people

Yeah but when you say India is an Islamic (or a Christian country, or a "insert group here") country, that implies that the group in question is a majority or has significant power. 100 million Muslims is a lot, but not compared to over 800 million Hindus. It also has around 25 million Christians. Lot of people, but just a drop in the bucket in India.

Here in canada we have only 22 million Christians... but that's out of 32 million people haha.

Hyderabad has the most Muslims in India.
India officially has 1,050,000,000 Hindus out of 1,380,000,000 people (2014 Bharatiya Janata census). Hindus make up
    76.016% of the population.

So India is actually an overwhelmingly Hindu country and Pakistan with over 94% of it's population professing to be Muslim is a Muslim country.

Islam claims to be the last and final revelation. It claims that any challenge to this is profane. It is a totalitarian concept but not the first. Muhammad is not the first man to have claims of perfection attributed to him and the Koran is not the first Holy book of which it is claimed, that it is the ineffable and perfect word of God. Most Christians and most Jews do not still believe that the Bible, or Torah, or Tanakh, is beyond questioning or interpretation. It has taken a while to come to that conclusion.

Islam means submission to God, not peace. Submission.

Many Christians and Jews have little problem aligning their belief and Scientific theories and concepts, such as Evolution and the right to practice any or no religion. This has not always been the case. The links between Judaism,Christianity, war, torture and slavery are long and bloody, but they have been irrevocably changed after two world wars in which many, if not most, combatants and victims were Christian or Jewish. (Of course they included others)

There is therefore a gulf between Islam and everyone else in the west.

This is dead right. It's a regional thing rather than a religion thing. Look at the way women are treated in India, the attitude to rape, domestic violence, honour killings, acid attacks and so on. Basically a big chunk of the world are backwards fucking savages towards women and anybody not from their group or tribe. Religion is just another thing they use to differentiate and justify their actions but not even the main one in most cases (not recently though in Muslim countries).
Islam is but a means to normalize such practices. India IS a "Muslim country", there are over 180 Million Muslims in India.
There are also 800 million Hindus and gang rapes, acid attacks, honour killings and so on are all popular pastimes in the Hindu population and honour killings are backed by a lot of Hindu politicians.

Islam surely does not have a monopoly on bad ideas and archaic customs.

Yeah both cultures suppress their females and stand over them while their 'just religions' stand idle about it.
