Default Emanuel Navarrete v Joet Gonzalez 10/15 Fri.

This is actually a solid match up kicking off on Espn+. Call me crazy but Navarrete is the man to beat at 126. Pretty sure Gary Russel has gone the Keith Thurman ..*poof they gone route.. as he's missed his routine annual ring appearance. Joet comes off a points loss to Shakur sleepy time Stevenson and comes in as mandatory for Navarrete who may very well be looking ahead to 130. It's deep up there. Conditioning improved and with perpetual body uppercut output imo Navarrete one of the more exciting top fighters going.

Emanuel Navarrete and Joet Gonzalez were in peak condition before a tense stare-down at the weigh-in ahead of their world championship encounter.

Navarrete's WBO featherweight title is up for grabs in San Diego, live on Sky Sports Arena, from 4am on Saturday morning.

"I feel very strong," said Mexico's Navarrete, who has won 34 of his 35 fights.

"I've seen changes in my body for the best, and I think this division is the best for me.

"I think this is going to be a tough fight. He is a tough opponent. We are basically fighting in his hometown, closer to where he lives. Without a doubt, he's a great fighter. He always comes forward. I expect a tough fight.

"Moving up [in weight] is not something that I'm considering now. I'm just focused on the fight with Joet. What I've heard is comments, but I'm not really thinking about moving up."

California's Gonzalez, who has won 24 of 25, reflected on his unsuccessful world title challenge against Shakur Stevenson: "Sometimes it's just not your night. I work hard and train hard for every fight.

"I don't take nobody lightly. It just simply wasn't my night. I rebounded with a win over Miguel Marriaga, and I think I showed the public I'm here to fight the best out there.

"It's not an easy fight. It's a tough fight. Navarrete has a style that's very unique, very hard to figure out, and that's why he's a champion. I trained really hard, and I'm coming with everything. I'm planning on leaving with that belt.

"It means everything. It's my childhood dream. I always wanted to be a world champion. That's why I started boxing in the beginning. That's the plan, to bring that belt back home."

Starts with 2-0 Floyd Diaz and 1-0 Jose Ramirez bantamweights. Not stars, not names..just two kids looking for a start. Diaz beating him to the punch two handed attack in 1st and drops Ramirez hard. Hurts him again in 2nd.

Tale of two different composures over three rounds. Floyd Diaz quick jabbing up and down stairs coming in. Ramirez stands straight up goes straight back and being caught clean. Both these dudes still in Highschool . Hey all power to them. For only two pro starts Diaz has a pretty educated stabbing jab. Think he swept all 4 rounds here.

Not to judge a guy on first appearance but Gonzalez shows up in blue crocs and is putting a sweater on his Frenchie dog. He's gonna be in for a long night with a Navarrete buzzsaw.

Martinez solid 1st round. Bigger sharper definitely more polished. Jones well bothered by those body shots.

Martinez catches him coming in with harsh 1-2 and staggers Jones in 2nd. Jones gutty but wearing all these punches big time.

Jones hurt again in 3rd looked like he thought about a knee and decided nah. Martinez looks like the distant cousin of Postol and Golovkin facially . Nice combos by Martinez. Jones is a very tough nail to hammer.

Jones had a decent minute run in 4th but more of Martinez letting him spend some gas. Jones best punch nice left hook clips Martinez but nothing lasting.

Jones absolutely battered to the body in 5th somehow he stays upright. Martinez landing the kitchen sink and then backs away oddly and lets him ride round out

Jones comes out catches Martinez and backs him up in 6th . Pretty scrappy fight. Someone needs to buy Jones a drink after this, all heart. Martinez takes the Unam 6 all cards.

Lost espn app a bit but gained a drink . Thought Santillan really lost against Antonio DeMarco. Angel Ruiz good 1st round.

Santillian looks like a much more capable inside fighter early. Also knows how to land elbows from the replay . Ruiz doing nothing to that body and waiting until the water rises before he tries to swim . Better get going
