snowy grey cold Saturday morning, about 1975, maybe January......I bundle up, lil' kid about 11 years old, I went up the block in the howling snow about 11 a.m., went down into Anthony Fotino's basement, he was about 14 years old and he says: "HEY STEVE, I WANNA GIVE YOU THIS ALBUM."

Took it home and played it for 1 year straight, memorizing every guitar lick on there. Fucking Randy Bachmann could PLAY, man. Straight up.

In 6th grade for some reason we raffled off that BTO record. I really wanted to win and did not. At lunch everyone was listening to it in the 6th grade classroom.
My friend had an older brother- he already played in a band- and he took us into the 8th grade classroom and played a record he was carrying around. That was my introduction to Paranoid.
