For some reason I always liked Victor Ortiz. I know he is going to start fighting again. I see he gets some bad press on this forum but I wanted to see if anyone thinks he is going anywhere. I guess I like train wrecks sometimes, I also like his personal story and I appreciate the obstacles he has overcome. I would have liked to have seen him fight Alvarez if Lopez hadn't busted him up so bad.

Ortiz is a fun fighter to watch. The obvious fight to make is the Berto rematch. They've both been found wanting at the highest level but their first fight was a FOTY candidate and a win for either would catapult them into another big fight. This will make them both decent money too.

I can't agree that he is over rated but everything else you said is right.
I see him as a strong gatekeeper. I've always liked him but I feel he has reached his final level.

I liked Ortiz after the Berto fight and the way he carried himself. He made a fool of himself against Floyd and deserved all he got for that. He does have a serious injury which takes a lot of time to heal and I think he will always be vulnerable to a broken jaw. He has been training regularly like running but we may have seen the best from him even though he is very young.

It depends which Ortiz turns up on the night. He'smenatally fragile and I think the dancing thing he's doing at the minute means his heart won't be in it anymore. Pretty sure we'll see Ortiz Berto sooner rather than later though.

I defended Ortiz when he was hounded as a 'quitter' after Maidana. But after the Mayweather melt down, once burned..twice shy. I think hes made up his mind about making the sport a priority and he'll find other things to do. Hes not a bad kid really and has "personality" to do other things but as my old man use to say...'that boy ain't right'
