contest glove size

i know it as mid weight up the fighters use 10oz gloves under that its 8oz, but i've been told its different.

is this so if it is what are the oz size gloves now for contests

If you are an amatuer boxer and are a light weight or anything around that you use 10oz gloves
If your a light heavy (like my brother) then you use 12oz gloves.

If your a professional you use 8oz gloves

Are we talking professional or amatuer?

They go by different rules

no amateur wears an 8oz and "contests" are for amateur

in the pro's 160 and up they use 10 oz gloves below 8 oz, in amateurs it's 12 oz for 154 and up and below it's 10 oz....now there are plenty of amateur shows that only use 12 oz gloves no matter what the weight is....for safety purposes....

As a lightweight i compete with a 10oz amateur, the safety purposes comes with the way their made. Amateurs use 4 layer impact absorbant padded gloves.
Pros just use gloves made out of horse hair

Bigs is right as far as the Amatuers are concerned I meant as for manufacture of gloves. 11 st is the change to 10 oz I left the AMS 20 years ago, must be old age .

Naah, headbutting is illegal. I wouldn't want to get my ear bitten off in case I was up against the next Tyson...

read a title or ringside magazine they will clearly tell you the difference before you purchase a glove.
