What do you want size for?
If you want functional strength weights and bodyweight exercises will build it. If all you want it useless bulk just stick to the weights and fill yourself full of useless substances
Your body needs protien after any exercise but it dosn't haveto come from a shake.
hey thanks adamgb im about 6ft1 and 11stone 6 i just want to add a bit of size without putting much weight on and was wondering how to do this?
The last thing you want is size but not weight, it should be the other way around.
The denser the muscle you put on, the heavier it is for its size. If you put on 2 stone but don't like amazingly bigger its because you've put on lean muscle. If you put on 2 stone and look like a body builder then its most likely water retention/fat.
Muscle out weights fat 3 times to one. 1kg or muscle is 3 times smaller than fat.
How old are you? We'll set you some real goals and go from there.
orsume you seem a great deal of help, my ideal future plans would be to keep the weight i am at 11stone 6lbs, my biceps are about 13.5 inch when im tensed i would like to put an inch of size on them, when im tensed they look great but bcoz im a long and lean if im not tensed they look like little twiggs lol, im happy with my abs chest and back, i would like to improve my legs as of the same reasons as the biceps, my main goal at the moment is improving my size in biceps and legs but keeping mobile and agile for my boxing
im 19 from south wales
yes but be careful because lots of protein can make you gain weight especially if your mixing it with whole milk.Originally Posted by TheSilverBoy
but if youre working out everyday with cardio you should have nothing to worry about
you're not going to gain any actual muscle with out also gaining weight, if you gained little or no weight the effects would just be cosmetic. Is it purely cosmetic you want too look bigger or is it for functional strength... I'll give you a few tips in a minute, got to pop out to the shops.
you can reach a certain size with bodyweight exercises but after a while the body has adapted and all your doing is working on muscle endurance...
you wouldnt do 100 bench presses so why do 100 press ups? Its all about resistance on the muscle to force it to adapt to the new stresses.
AdamGB: you need a fast assimilated protein source after training, food takes too long to digest so athletes and bodybuilders alike use protein shakes at this time mixed with water.
Caesin in milk slows absorbtion so only use water post-workout
