How overatted is Prince Naseem?

"Prince" Naseem Hamed was a verg good boxer but was never as good us people thought and still think. He was very quick and skilled but when he came up with one top class opponent in MAB he got battered stupid, no one can tell me all the great fighters he beat, because he never beat any. When he got found out he retired because he believed in all his hype and could not handle the fact that he was in fact far from the greatest which he and many people wrongly believe to be the case.

I disagree. Naz was great. He fought more than one upper level operator...he just failed miserably to one of the better fighters of the last 10 years.

Barrera is & was no joke. That's been proven time & time again.

The problem I have with Naz is the way that he went out. After the loss...he seemed to be just devastated psychologically or some shat. He coulda, shoulda, & woulda done better if he hadn't let it go to his head.

Naz was great...better than just good.

I don't think that he was overratted...when you sit back & think about it...we are all way to harsh on champions. He did what he did & got to the spot he was in by way of a lot of punches & hard work.

Definitely not OVERrated. He'd be overrated if people were saying he's one of the best ever at featherweight, but I don't see many people say that. I think most people on this forum seee him for what he genuinely was, an exceptional talent that could have done more with the right attitude, after all he went in to a fight with Barrera (an all time great) as a favourite, and though he lost, it wasn't a complete shut out.
You could also posibbly argue that Hamed wasn't at his best that night, and would have fared better a couple of years earlier, however if this were true he'd only have himself to blame for lack of preperation and the lack of will (which is another attribute that the greats have besides talent alone).

I don't think Naz was a good boxerhe had good reflexes and power which kept him going for so long and I was surprised at how long he lasted....I see Froch being the same.

Froch has nowhere near the same abilities as naz had, he just thinks he has. When naz was fighting at domestic and european level no one could lay a single glove on him, this certainly can't be said for Froch.
It's a shame for Froch really because he does have some quality, but he needs to change his strategy drastically if he wants to go any further than he has.

His problems came when he abandoned the jab and all other natural skills that HE DID possess in favour of trying to take people out with 1 shot.

With the right team I think he could've been an All Time Great and lets face who doesn't lose to MAB!!

Against Robinson, Vasquez & Bungu (even tho that was after the slide began) he was awesome.

Petty he didn't have the sack to come back after only 1 defeat!!

Carl Froch is not even close to being in the same league as naseem was. Froch doesn't even have good reflexes.

My personel opinion is WAY overated if you like technical fighters, who know all the tricks, and do it by the book. But I will also give him credit for his tremendous power, and his awkward ability to avoid being hit. Acelino Freitas comes to mind as another powerfull and athletic NON- technical fighter. They are fine until they run up on the REAL DEAL. AKA Marco Antonio Barrera, or Diego Corrales

he was very over rated, he made his name fighting over 35 year old once aponer time decent boxer or b class guys who were hyped up tp add credit to his name

his antics when winning a fight were a disgrace, who can forget his disgusting showboating when robinson was down for the count

he never had the balls to fight the real top names and when he did, he lost and never fought again
