I also found that if you imagine that your trying to "steal" the punch it works really well.....what I mean is you need to act like whenever you throw a punch you need to react like like your trying to take something off the person's face and the person you're trying to hit is going to grab your fist. So, instead of him grabbing your hand you throw the punch and pull it back with the quickness.......another thing is to throw your punches completely relaxed..keep your hands in a very loose fist if not almost completely open...do this whenever you're shadowboxing or if you can have someone hold the mitts while you practice.

What about the fact that all the while youre doing these kind of things youre punching wrong. What happened to punching right nobody does it anymore.

This is an excellent vid thanks Scrap and those guys look pretty fast considering their size so I'll believe it works

I'm happy and impressed despite the fact that I'm DEFINATELY having a short day now

sorry this might sound stupid but why is the elastic pulling the hands out rather than them pushing the elastic out to add resistance? I would have thought he would have been shadow boxing the other way around.

Reaction througth touch and feel, the two main components in your body for speed. The first 3 inch of any movement will tell you how fast that motion will be the first guy is working on oral stability which gives speed. The second on recoil and speed of hand after. It all depends on the first 3 inch for technique the thought if you like once triggered it wont be changed unless its a con its still the thought.

Do the bands maybe work on 2 levels Scrap - one for the speed and also to force you to ground your foot with your punch?

Last night my brother was trying to highlight why my right hand felt powerless when moving foreward with parallel movement (throwing left hand with left step and right hand with right step) unlike diagonal movement (left hand with right step and vice versa)  - not sure if there are other names for that elsewhere.

He put his hand under my right foot only just above the ground and told me to throw a jab cross combo on the spot and feel the difference compared to with my foot planted. When my foot wasn't planted and was floating all over the place - no power. I guess people have explained this to me a bit before but I don't think I understood the implications of that while moving foreward one hundred percent before.

I guess when I've been using the bands I probably haven't been using them under enough tension to feel this and would always need to have the band tight enough to feel an obvious pull for it to work properly.

    Does that kinda make sense?

All good thanks for the confirmation CC Scrap I've been taught parallel movement in my current gym as if when using it if i can't get power in the cross I'm doing something wrong - somehow failing to twist my shoulders through enough - so while I could still be doing something wrong it's nice to know it's not 100 % my fault!

I wanna see them big guys shadow box like that for half hour straight. Let's see if they can maintain that pace.
