Hi Scrap, hope all is well with you.

    I was just wondering.
In theory is there any actual relation between running sprints and the body's overall speed capabilities?

As regards Boxing not really, makes your anarobic system work better speed in relation to movement it Helps but there are better ways to incorperate fast twitch fibres response. Througth a method of touch response and stretch

I might have maxed out my free info quota recently already but I was wondering what sort of things you do to train touch response?

Are specific drills where you say train a counter or a block in partner work or on the pads classified as touch response exercises?

No its something that makes that and everything that applies to what youre talking about easier.

One day my brain is going to overheat trying to nut out these little hints

I guess having to partially work it out myself could be more beneficial for me and my understanding of it in the long run.

Thanks for the response Scrap - I'll have to ruminate on it for a while and see if I can get an idea of what it is.

I'm guessing it has something to do with what Floyd Mayweather was working on with the pad work he was doing which most people thought was pointless show off stuff.

One other Q just to clarify this in my head. When you say touch and feel it seems you are talking about two different things but you are 'reacting' to touch and feel.

So wouldn't touch and feel really be one thing? I mean I'm thinking of touch as being an action but if you react to it you must be sensing something to react to so is it really just feel?

So if you're reacting to 'touch and feel' - you are reacting to what you feel when you touch something - whether it the contact with your opponent or the ground at various positions and angles under your feet depending on your stance and posture?

So would touch and feel really be balance and distancing between you and your opponent?

OK so it is more complicated than I thought!

I guess I've never really thought of that kind of 'feeling' to be trainable except for perhaps training in a way which allows maximum recovery while still challenging your body enough to make fitness gains.

I guess it kinda makes sense that over-training might mess with your prioreception the same way that feeling a bit sick or tired will. I mean I always walk into things when I'm tired.

So I guess that might be an added thing to consider on top of any muscle tightnesses, imbalances etc?

Is there something else to it that I haven't clicked on to yet though?

Ok Scrap, I'm Ready to start using this technique.

What kind of elasticated rope and hand grips do you reccomend and also what tension do suggest on the rope?

As regards the posture suggestion; the band around the head, would this not encourage the fighter to lean forward or are you suggesting that itr is trhe active resistance your body offers that will improve posture?

Donny you have the right idea. If you try it you will be in for a shock how fast the body works in response at keeping the body controling the head

I too am intrigued after watching this elastic rope workout. As I also want to work on speed. If anyone knows of where to get them, please drop the info. in here and maybe I can talk my club into buying them and see how it goes.
