    Default And down goes Vargas...

A common saying from a boxing announcer. Fernando Vargas has yet to win in the big fight. Again, no insult to any Vargas fans, but again and again, he proves to be a lot of heart but more "talk" than probably anything.

In every big fight that Fernando Vargas has gotten in, he has lost!

Nope. Well, ok. I will agree with you. Vargas beat Wright the same way that Jermain Taylor beat Bernard in their first fight.

Why is it when Oscar defeats Ike Quartey, it is considered a major win for ODH but when Vagras defeats Ike Quartey it is merely overlooked.

    He beat

    Winky Wright
    Ike Quartey
    Raul Marquez

    and a few others include

    Javier Castillejo
    Luis Ramon Campas
    Wilfredo Rivera

so yes, he has a few big wins in his career

True, but these last two fights were no where near the level of a prime Vargas, this was not the same fighter who fought Tito and Oscar, and these last two fights were no where near the Magnitude of a mega fight (Two old fighters) these fights should not count against his legacy but they will on his record.

Vargas was very very very dissapointing on saturday, didnt put all of his effort in and thought it was a easy fight for Shane.

    Vargas doesn't have a legacy.

    Vargas doesn't have a legacy.

Precisely. How does having a few decent names on your record constitute a legacy? His legacy will be of a fighter with a decent level of boxing skill, a fair amount of heart, and a suspect chin. Vargas is hardly ancient, yet he still got schooled Mosley, who no-one can argue isn't well past his prime.

Some of these people give Vargas way too much credit!

thats like saying Hearns beat Cuevas.

Vargas had mega fights and he didn't win them. Can't blame him considering who he faced, losing to Shane and Delahoya and Trinidad are nothing bad. Leija lost to both Shane and Oscar and had a pretty good career. But I think Vargas spitting the warrior crap and then getting knocked out hurt him more then helping him.

Everybody has a legacy, some good and some bad. I have a legacy you have a legacy and so forth. Vargas falls into that category of a fighter that won't be counted among the elite but was solid competition

Exactly - this was the true, fatass, good-but-not-great vargas, as opposed to the cheating, steroid Vargas of "prime." I admit that he's better with the juice.
