I take my hat off to the guy, he was brutal in the ring and never disappointed. I did laugh when he got ko'd by Hearns, that was devestating

    Yeah love watching that fight
Hearns put it right on him!!!!

Durans record is amazing when you think about how f*cking long he fought for..

1968-2001 thats FIVE decades which is amazing in my book.

    Proper legend

I had no idea he was fighting that early, you have to be a tuff SOB to be in the ring that long.

that was a nasty shot...but as we know with hearns it was either get to him first or get KO'd.....Duran never got a chance....

Yea, but I don't think you can say that about Hearns in the first place... He was not kill or be killed as suggested.. It's not as if Hearns or Sugar Ray were going for the KO early, and it wasn't a matter of who got to the other first whatsoever... All that fight proves for me is that Hearns had VASTLY underrated boxing skills, and wasn't nearly a one dimensional fighter like some ppl think... He was putting a serious whipping on SRL for over 12 rounds, and he displayed amazing well rounded talent and skill. It drives me nuts that people compare him to Vargas because they lost their biggest fights... Hearns was 10X the fighter that Vargas was, Hagler and SRL were much better fighters than Oscar or Trinidad... And Vargas only gave one great performance, against Tito... Hearns always put on a hell of a show no matter what.

Duran was definately nothing short of astounding. He was the tuffest SOB in boxing history. The fact that the crazy bastard barely lost a 15 round fight with Marvin Hagler, beat a monster and warrior in Iran Barkley, and was robbed against Vinny Paz are all great accomplishments, then you realize he was past his prime and a good 3 weight classes above what he started and they become legendary.

It was funny as hell to see him taunt Ray Leonard and his family, even after the first fight when Leonard tried to congradulate him he was still pushing Leonard. He was a mean SOB
