Seein that I've had too much spare time on my hands this summer, I have watched several episodes. Let me say it is comical, how "semi" contact it is. Firstly there is NO hitting in the face at all. Secondly you are not supposed to use force with the intent to cause harm to your opponents. And the rounds are only like 1 min long, and theres only three of em. Oh and guys and chicks fight each other and the scoring is just stupid. So are the little challenges. Honestly I could kick most of the guys asses on there in a backyard boxing match. The whole show is kind of a joke to me or any MMA/boxing fan.

Couldnt Agree more. It's apprently not REAL martial arts, it's EXTREME martial arts. Scoring is point based. A kick is one point. A punch, a spinning kick, or a jumping kick is two points. A jumping spinning kick is three points. Basically, All you have to do is put your arms across your body, and either square off, or back into your opponent. Everytime he attacks, counter with a 1-2 to the body, and I guarantee you win the entire competition. Theres no hitting to the face, no hitting below the knee, and no hitting the back. It doesn't seem to matter if your opponent hits your foot with his face (e.g. you throw a kick to the body, he ducks into it with his face), you'll still get called for the foul.
Not to mention, EVERY contest with one or two exceptions has been either Tae Kwan Do or Karate of some sort.
Boxing is like a handjob, and MMA is like a hot sweaty orgy with 5 chicks. I could never say no to a handjob, but which would you rather have?

its quite possibly the gayest show I've ever seen. I hate the Contender b/c of its over dramatization and the fight editing, but next that garbage its awesome.
