The Darkness and Justin Hawkins

I have known about the split up of the band but have yet to address it til now.

So Justin Hawkins quit the band to stay off of cocaine and alcohol, which is an admirable thing to do and that's cool with me.

The band is trying to figure out what to do at the moment, speculation is that they will keep on and get another lead singer and guitar player as Dan Hawkins will more than likely take over lead guitar.

I'm sad about but I can safely say I love all their songs and albums, I just wish I could see them live!

Here is some history of some other Rockers hitting Rock bottom (which once you look at it it's worse than Justin's)

Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue - OD'd and was given TWO adreniline shots in his heart to revive him

Slash of Guns'N'Roses -Slash is notorious for his alcohol-induced acceptance speech at the 1990 American Music Awards. Upon receipt of GNR's second award at the 1990 American Music Awards, he and Duff McKagan stumbled to the stage appearing very drunk, holding drinks, and smoking cigarettes. He also suffered Alcohol poisoning and almost died

Steven Adler of Guns'N'Roses - Had a stroke after doing an 8-ball

Steve Clark of Def Leppard - The autopsy revealed he had died from a mixture of anti-depressants, painkillers (because of a rib injury) and alcohol with no evidence of suicidal intent

Vince Neil of Motley Crue - Had a wreck while driving drunk passenger Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley, the drummer of Hanoi Rocks, died from his injuries

and so on

So I'm dissapointed that Justin quit the band but hey his rock bottom wasn't all that bad....you Brits just need to learn how to pace yourselves!!!

The Darkness seem like a post-modern ironic karaoke pub band that somehow struck it lucky with a novelty record and persuaded the ever-gullible public they were a viable band.

I bet we never hear of them again.

.... and I'll be glad.
