yeah height wise Hearns obviously was a freak of nature to be that tall, reach, and have skinny asss legs to make weight down at the lower weight classes. he sat by me during RJJ vs Tarver 1 and he didnt seem all that taller i think his skinny as frame even made him look even taller much like paul williams as well.

Samson, I saw that ad years ago and wondered the same thing. If you see Hearns and Hagler fighting and standing for the staredown. Hearns is taller ,but not what is seems like there. Hearns looks 6-3 there and Hagler looks 5-8.. Hearns was 6-1 1/2 and Hagler I think was 5-9 1/2

That is funny Hearns looks like a Heavyweight compared to Hagler in that picture...They probably took 2 photos and put them together for the one...Without them actually being photographed together...

Hearns always looked alot taller than Hagler or Ray or Duran when he was standing with them at a press conference, but in the ring he seemed to even out since he sort of hunched down more to fight them. He was taller than Hagler that is for sure. But not like that picture shows.

Exactly. The thing a lot of people mis calculate is size, they just look at the height of a fighter . Height and reach have there advantages, but so does short and powerful.. in Theory its who can utilize their attributes that gives them an advantage, However the truth is the tall fighter has the advantage because of how most referees handle the clinches. Most ref's immediately jump right in and separate the fighters, giving the taller rangier fighter his advantage of distance. When the tall fighter needs distance he just clinches. The short fighter is at a loss. Now with Ref's like Jay Nady , who are vigilant about not allowing the clinch , the short fighter has a fair chance to utilize his assets of getting in close and fighting on the inside. that’s how its supposed to be. A ref should warn about clinches, and when they occur allow some time for the short fighter to free himself and fight out of it. if the clinches are repeated and used as a tact, then the ref starts taking points.
Sorry for the rambling,, had to get that off my chest ! Nady for President !
