Go to your local bank & start a Roth IRA. It's non-taxable & about the safest way to go. I started one with about $2,000 & added to it monthly. It built up a pretty large chunk.
If you wanna take the risk of stocks...you can make money...sometimes...but it's just like gambling. Don't let anyone tell you that it's not.
If you do stocks, purchase sure bets. Tech stocks, Coke products, & things that are basic necessities.
