Default Floyd Patterson vs Chris Byrd - Who wins?

Both in their prime, who would win?

Chris Byrd was a great defensive fighter,
but he fought slower guys in a slow division.
He was good at making people miss though and had a nice chin.
    Record: W39 (20 ko's), L3, D1. Notable wins: Evander Holyfield, David Tua,
    Vitali Klitschko.

Floyd had a quick leeping hook, Patterson had quick reflexes and was offensively gifted. He was small and had a weak chin. Youngest Heavyweight champion at the time.
Record: W55 (40 ko's), L8, D1. Notable wins: Henry Cooper, Archie Moore and
    Ingemar Johansson.

I see this fight as either split division for Chris Byrd or KO for Floyd Patterson.

What are the forum's thoughts I wonder?

It is a win for Floyd...KO or unanimous decision either way it is a win for Patterson....Don't know why you thought this would even be close or debateable ?....Floyd had a weak chin but it wasn't crystal...and He hit pretty damn hard

Byrd doesnt even deserve the comparison, not in the same league.

    Nice match up

I like Byrds Chances along the stretch, Paterson didn't hit like Ike
Plus he wasnt much of a volume puncher and loaded he shots up alot.

patterson's balls are twice as big as byrd's and i reckon floyd would knock him out. mind you i bet byrd is a bastard to box though being so defensive and a southpaw. patterson would be chasing him round untill he catches him with a few of those left hooks.

You can't compare eras. Byrd could beat Patterson but that doesn't make him a better fighter.

No offense to the legend but Byrd would have made him look silly.

Patterson came from an era of heavyweights on his hey day Heavyweights that stood still and took punches and were flat footed for the most part.

Byrd was the exact opposite, I really don't see Patterson finding Byrd with his punches as fast as he is.

I know people think Byrd will get caught like he didnt against Ike, but Ike was 250 pounds and Wladimer was 250 pounds and Patterson...well Patterson isn't and had a shaky chin.

I don't think Byrd would stop Floyd Patterson in a million years. But I don't think Floyd Patterson would beat Chris Byrd, its a battle of styles and Byrd would beat Patterson by style 9 our of 10 times
