Default The punchbag returns for another hurr-auch!

Journeyman Jeremy Bates who was last seen pushing Evander Holyfield nearly a full two rounds a few months ago faced antoher comeback fighter tonight, in cruiserweight Guillermo Jones. Now, Jones finished him in 1:44 of round 1, but heavyweight Holyfield took near on 6 minutes. While the fight took place at heavyweight, Jones was barely 14 lbs above the limit, and it was my understanding that he does want to continue fighting at cruiser. Anyway....in my mind, it does say a little about Holyfield's return that he took three times as long to dispatch Bates as did Jones. Your views on whether we can judge fighters by their performances against the same opposition? Or is it a matter of comparing them over a number of fights. Anyhow, welcome back Jeremy, and yet another brief dalliaunce it was.

    Dont think it means much,

Boxing is about strategy and a boxer doesn't always aim to knock someone out in the 1st round, could be the plan to test the waters for a few minutes and then try it.

That means nothing..if Holyfield SHOT OR NOT..wanted to KO Bates in rd 1 he could have I think we all know that...After the lay off Holyfield would have liked some ring time in...work off some rust see what he needs to work on a bit?....Bates was just not a durable guy ...

Come on, fair play to Bates...he has the pedigree to be in there with Holyfield and Jones...I mean he twice challenged for the West Virgina state title...which as we all know is the king of the states in terms of boxing....
Just thought I'd pop the question see what kind of response it illicited...I'm surprised Lord's Gym hasn't said anything yet. I expect your reply bro.

    Yeah, fair play to Bates.

He came into the sport quite late after all and not many failed tennis players become professional fighters. At least he seems to be keeping to form (he never got into the second round at Wimbledon either)

For the slightly less cultured of us not living in the US or Mexico, and not knowing how to put a squiggle above the 'n', would you explain what a pinata is?

A piñata is a cardboard thing decorated with colored paper that kids get at parties.

The kids beat the piñata with a stick or bat until it breaks open revealing candy!!

to add the tilde over the n hold down the ALT key and enter 164 on the 10 key then let go of ALT.
