Default Briggs Coming Home! Defends WBO Title March 10 at MSG

    Briggs Coming Home!
Defends WBO Title March 10 at MSG

    January 11, 2007

    By Matt Richardson

Brooklyn born Shannon Briggs will return to his roots on March 10 when he makes his first WBO heavyweight title defense against Sultan Ibragimov at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The HBO main event was officially announced Wednesday afternoon to a standing room only crowd at the Firebird restaurant in mid-town. It will be the first defense of the belt Briggs won in November when he knocked out Sergei Liakhovich in the final second of the final round of the fight.

    Two questions.

#1: Does anyone really rate Briggs?
#2: Did you guy's really think that Ibrag's fight against Austin all that great?

I only ask because...well I say no to both.

I agree with that. You can never count out someone with Briggs's power, that being said, I don't think he has the tools to defend the title for too long. He very well may lose to Ibragimov.

I don't think that anything on Ibragimovs resume says he is ready to be a title holder. He got knocked down by Austin near the end of the fight.

Bottom line is whoever ends up with this title, should be easy pickins for Klit or Valuev for some unity. So honestly I care very little about this fight.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

He really annoys me, especially since he made comment that he wasn't being big headed but if it wasn't for his asthma, he could have been the greatest of all time. If he can't face the reality that he won the title with a lucky punch then he has huge future issues.
I do think he knows the truth and that is the reason that hes doing so much talking now to raise awareness for his next fight, which he could well loose. Make hay while the sun shines!

You should see how big this guy is in person, his hand was as big as my face, it's hard to think about fighting someone that big, but in the ring he alway's dissappointed. (Briggs)

    1. He's the wbo champ enough said about that (for those of you who don't understand, i don't rate him highly at all)
    2. For how much they hyped that fight up it was absolute crap. It shouldn't of been the main event it should've been the first fight.
