Default More Info on Howard Cosell's decision to leave boxing?

I've been trying to find more info about this incident, but all I can find is sites that state that he left boxing because of the brutal one-sided beating Holmes gave Cobb. But I also heard something about him saying he was sick of the politics as well. I was wondering if anyone had any more info on exactly why he quit, such as any interviews he has done about the incident or anything where has talked about it in more detail. I haven't been able to find the CObb/Holmes fight yet so what was he saying during the fight? Thanks in advance for any iinfo.

I think thats all that was said, I don't even think he did an interview about it......
I do remember Cobb saying and I quote "Hell, I'd go 15 more rounds with Holmes if I thought it would get him off football telecasts"
Which I think is pretty funny......

    I remember the fight!
Cosell mouthed the whole fight about how lousy Cobb was.
    On and ON!!
    he ruined the fight!
I think they fired his ass!!
Its entertainment! you CANT have an announcer ruin the fight and disrespect the fighters. The promoters wont stand for it.
Be honest but dont drive the match down into the ground!
NO ONE want's to hear it!
He said he quit...I don't know! I'm GLAD he's gone! and forgotten!

    NEXT?? Larry Merchant!

Cobb had a win over Ernie Shavers and then 2 split desicion losses to Ken Norton and Micheal Dokes
then 4 wins in a row including Bernardo Mercado

Randell was very raw but really tough
In the Holmes fight I don't think he EVER took a step backwards
He ate Larry's jab all night and the right hand as well, clean HARD shots that would have stopped a dump truck!
It wasn't a TOTAL blowout, one judge gave Randell "tex" Cobb one round.
Larry, arguably the greatest Heavyweight of all time was at his peak and Randell was tailor made for him. They were in different leagues, different universes really.
BUT its not because Randel was SO bad. It was because Larry was SO good and the styles exasperated the problem for Cobb.
After the fight Larry said "If you fight "Tex" don't punch him in the head, you'll only encourage him,... and hurt your hands"
One of the dads on my sons football team used to have Randell live in his house years ago he has told me some funny stories about the guy.
