    Default Why I love boxing

There are other, more technical and pretty fighting techniques that are available as a spectator sport. Why then, does boxing have this draw on me?

    1. Intensity

The eyes of true champions show desire that you rarely get to see in any other sport. Nigel Benn is a perfect example. You could see that he would rather die than lose. It was all in those eyes.

    2. Dedication

When a fighter spends three months in camp for 36 minutes of a fight and turns up in incredible shape. The commitment for those months to turn themselves into a machine is awesome. Probably why I have an intense dislike of poorly prepared fighters.

    3. The Art

Styles make the fights and that is what I love. You can be clinical, way ahead on points and leave yourself open for a second and that's all it takes. Brilliance can win a fight, but is that brilliance the technical superiority or is it the patience to wait for the opportunity and take it when it comes?

    4. The Debates over point 3

    This kind off explains itself

All in all, I love the sport, the aggression and the anxiety followed by relief when a fighter I like is in a hard fight and comes out on top. It's entertainment level can be the best there is (although we are sometimes let down by overweight pretenders who hold for the whole fight).

My kind of threads here where you type it up and give it some thought process not too long but long enough to be interesting and your let it out there and saying why you love the sport....

Shit! people here love the sport itself sooo much they can't stop talking about this weekends past fights and the ones coming up thats why no ones responded to your thread....

I like you get really into the sport and let my heart and emotions take over once the bell rings, my neighbors think I'm crazy every Sun. morning when they see me in the yard they tell me 'Really good fights last night huh"? I just smile causse I know they can hear me screaming and yelling at the TV screen....

But thats what I love about the sport I've been to baseball games, football games, basketball games and MMA events and kickboxing but to me there is only 1 sport that gets my blood boiling and going and thats being at boxing event being at Vasquez-Marquez I was at the edge of my seat the whole night and it was just insane....

Thanks for the good read and good to see theres other fans like me out there.....

I hate when good thought out threads go to waste and no one responds to them shame really....

Heres another good thought out thread and it only got 1 response, from me...

I bet you kept saying "He's not gonna het up, he's not gonna get up" and no one was around you watching the fight....

I do that sometimes I start talking as if theres someone there with me. Thats why I usually have my girl come over and watch fights with me so I can have someone to talk to....

I just think it's the most emotional scientific sport on Earth. There really is nothing greater then two men entering the ring and one man leaving a winner, the other a loser. It's so clear cut, and there are so many was to win or lose, I really can't describe it. I get a bigger rush out watching boxing then I do playing any other sport. I really can't put it into words but boxing is a fascination with me. Seeing a fight on TV or live, seeing the punches being thrown, the abitility to see exactly how things are working and what' going on in the ring. It's awesome.

Also, I think fight fans are the best sports fans on Earth. A fight fan can watch a battle of two heavyweight contenders in 1997, and in 2007 they can tell you exactly what happened in the fight. Who won, how they won, how they looked ect...everything. Ask a football fan in the 10th week of the season how his team performed in week 2, and you're going to get whether they won or "they lost. Ask a fight fan how a fighter looked in a match 2 years ago and you'll hear what really happened.

It's captivating stuff really. Incidentally enough, I don't become as crazed about boxing as I do other sports when watching but I don't invest nearly as much as I do in a big baseball game then I do a big fight. I remember I watched Wright - Taylor with some friends and I really started screaming at the TV. I mean I went insane. I started throwing my hat around, pulling the hair out of my own head I mean I went insane Then when it was over we were walking to the park and I kind of took a deep breath, and then looked at them and I realized why they were laughing throughout the whole fight.

    Good thread CC.
