Default No Need to Ever have that thread again!!!

OK we have had the thread quite a few times about Kessler and Calzaghe going at it....

I think we all got our answer in stone last night why it won't

Arthur Allen TKO--6,,,Erik Lucas TKO 10,,,Markus Beyer KO 3,,,and the shellacking we saw Kessler give Andrade last night and he keeps getting better.....

Is it just me or does anyone else her also believe Frank Warren is not going to let his Most Prized fighter get in the Ring with the "Viking Warrior" now or later if he can help it??

I think this might as well be a dead deal unless Calzaghe is forced by the WBO or IBF to fight Mikkel....And we all know that is not going to happen

Im inclined to agree...it does seem unlikely that a Calzaghe: Kessler fight will materialise. Its criminal really. Its the biggest posibble fight in his division, and a shot against a unified champ to boot. And here he is wasting time with Manfredo. And that following Bika!! Im sure the money would be mighty fine against Kessler too...

Maybe Calzaghe will surprise some like he did by fighting Lacy, but with all his talk of Hopkins and Taylor it is doubtful...

Time will tell on this...I hope Clazaghe can surprise us but im far from optimisitc...

The fight will happen IF the money is right. Simple as. With Kessler impressing on HBO it can only help. Hopefully they'll push for the fight.

FW and Mogens Palle have already been in talks to make the fight over the past couple of years.. but surprise surprise couldn't agree to anything... at least the fight is getting BIGGER

And by the way Berrio is the IBF champ not Calzaghe

Calzaghe v Manfredo isn't about boxing,it's about safely marketing Joe stateside against a household name, making him look good and paving the way for a Hopkins or Taylor mega money fight
The Super Middleweight division is starting to get some face back with Carl Froch barging his way into the equation and Froch is on track to get to Calzaghe first not Kessler.
That is if he wants it but i think he'll retire in around 3 fights time and not fight either of them.

Hmm... Wonder why that could be Dusty Trunks and Joey Spina are on track to "get Calzaghe" before Kessler is at this rate.. Im not sure whether you were implying Froch was on track to get Joe because he isn't as good as Kessler, but that's the only reason it would happen imo.

There's more chance of Calzaghe fighting Kessler or Froch than any of the top American guys.

What are Calzaghes options after the sacrificial lamb is dealt with?

The American's (Hopkins, Winky, Taylor) wont leave their backyard for anything other than astronomical paydays (can't blame them either after seeing what happened to Lacy), and there's other options for them at the moment at home

If Calzaghe was gonna fight in the States he'd of done it by now. BIG-ish fights that can be made in Britain are the ones that'll happen which brings the likes of Kessler and Froch into play ... with Glen Johnson in the wings, of course

Winky WRight has fought in over 6 different countries including all over Europe.. Granted it was before he made it big. But that's the way it should be. the USA is the big stage. It's Calzaghe who won't leave his backyard, Im afraid..

Quite right. Winky was great when he fought over here, and I'm sure he'd come back, but he's already said he wants mega money to face Calzaghe.

Also I agree Calzaghe should/could of left his backyard by now but when he tried the likes of Hopkins didn't want to know

Yep you gotta say Kessler is looking a damn good SMW. Id actaully pick Kessler to beat Calzaghe now, but i put it down to Joe not pushing himself enough of late. GET YOUR FUCKING ASS TO THE STATES AND FIGHT THEM YOU MUG! OK rant over.

Come on. Hopkins fought Oscar after he and Calzaghe were supposedly close to making a fight. You've got to remember Joe was basically a non entity at that time. It's just business, if Joe was really that serious about getting a mega fight with the likes of him he could have fought somebody else in the states and tried to get exposure on HBO earlier. It's not as if Hopkins went anywhere, were talking over 5 years ago... Hmm, who has accomplished more in that time frame. Who has shown more of an inclination to get big fights And of course Winky would want mega money to fight Calzaghe in his backyard, he is a great talent, bigger man, huge threat... Anyone would want big money to travel to Wales and fight a p4p guy... Im sure Winky would demand mega cash for just about any fight he takes now, he's getting long in the tooth just like Calzaghe soon will be... The difference is Winky actually has had mega fights, because he's made sacrifices to get where he is. That's what it's all about. If Calzaghe had taken a couple of measly pay cuts years ago to get some exposure Stateside, he'd probably be making alot more cash now and wouldn't have any trouble drawing interest in a mega fight. Instead he's trying to boost his stock and finally make a name forhimself today, at the age of 34, by fighting exactly the kind of mediocre opponents he could have showcased his talent with years back.
