Andre Ward’s ready to fight, like a malnourished leopard’s ready for a limping gazelle.

“I’m beyond hungry,” the 2004 Olympic gold medal winner said Wednesday before weighing in for his Thursday fight in San Jose, Calif. “I’m famished. I’ve put in my work and I’m ready to go.”

The Oakland, Calif. fighter faces late-replacement Julio Jean, a fighter from New Haven Conn., with a record of 7-10-1 with 3KOs. Ward said he understands people who wonder why he’s not facing tougher opponents.

I think he does have what it takes but he is very green currently and needs time to develop...but in the future he will be a force to be reckoned with

I'm in San Jose right now for the fight tonight,talked to Ward a little bit he said the thumb is feeling good and after his last outing I've little doubt that he'll impress tonight.

I'm a little disappointed his original opponent pulled out and am just hoping this Jean guy doesn't just lie down. He went 10 rounds with Duddy a while ago so I'm hoping that means he has some fight in him.
