His fight with Fuji has to be one of, if not THE GREATEST defensive performance ever!

here's an out of his prime and old Locche SCHOOLING Antonio "kid" Cervantes. And some other ones And you thought Roy Jones invented the hands behind his back dodging. Nope, it was this guy

Guy was Pernell Whitaker, Winky Wright, Emanuel Augustus and Floyd Mayweather before they even got into boxing And before some existed I think

One of my favorite fighters of all time. Defensive wizard it's a shame he didn't venture out on the world scene. He's an Argentine legend, one of his only fights he had outside Argentina he fought Fuji in Japan. The San Francisco Examiner which had great boxing analysis, printed a report for the fight. My grandpa was in the paper that day so he kept it and still has it. So I came across this little story. Anyways, Locche learned how to say "I'll stand right in front of you and you won't hit me" in Japanese. It drew a huge roar from the press who hadn't seen Locche. Anyways, after 10 round of simply being unable to touch Locche, Fuji quit on his stool and kept repeating to his trainer "He stands right in front of me and I don't hit him."

I'll scan the whole story next time I'm at his house. Locche died recently which was sad but it introduced a lot of people to him and a bunch of his fights hit the net at the time. Argentina also rebroadcasted the Fuji fight the day of his death on national TV so that version is on WBVA now. Or at least it was.

CC for the Youtube clip. Locche was a wizard.

Wow this is the first I've heard of him, that was some masterful stuff.

Maybe he is one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time... but with 117 wins and only 14 ko's, is he also one of the lightest hitters of all time?

He had a good punch but lacked a killer instinct. He was content with winning on points, kind of like Winky i guess

Ahhhh, thats cool. Personally I'm not addicted to the knockout, I like guys who go out there and get the job done be it ko or decision, but 14 KO's out of 117 wins? A record like his and Pep's make Pernell seem like Julian Jackson.

I don't care how good his fight was against Diaz (where he actually got tagged a lot), Ward, Burton, Oliveira and the rest....

His name belongs no where near Pernell, Winky, PBF and especially not Pep or Locche....

I hope you mentioned augustus only for entertainment value(hands behind back and taunting)

But alas, he is dead (locche)

He was an atg but a fighter no one really heard about and I think some of his fights should be on ESPN Classic, doesn't matter if its in a foreign language that was beautiful to watch.

While it was very impressive and the guy obviously had some insane skills and reflexes, from what I've seen in that vid I'm not ready to put him above Pernell. Chris Eubank said it best, Pernell was "poetic" in the ring.

And I'll stick by my original comment.

You should watch the fight he had in japan.

But the fact he was "old" as majesty said and he did that to a young in his prime antonio cervantes(who is a legend and one of the greatest lightweights of all time) then his greatness was something...special..
