Default Setanta sports to broadcast HATTON v CASTILLO

Broadcaster Setanta Sports has secured the exclusive broadcast rights to screen Ricky Hatton’s IBO junior-welterweight clash with Mexican Jose Luis Castillo at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on June 23.

Director of Sport for Setanta Sports, Trevor East, said: “Setanta is delighted to have secured Ricky’s next title fight and we’re thrilled to be working with the UK’s most popular and talented boxer. This is further proof that Setanta Sports is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to showcasing the best UK sporting events.”

Commenting on the Setanta deal the undefeated Hatton said: “I’m really looking forward to working with Setanta Sports for this world title fight. This fight should be a cracker as Castillo is one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world with over 47 knockouts in his career, so all I can do is encourage people to pick up the phone and subscribe to Setanta if you want to see another world title fight return to England.”

Freeview viewers who want to see the fight will pay a fee of £10.99, and if they subscribe before midnight on Friday June 22, will receive a full months subscription to the Setanta Sports channel plus an extra month free, which will net them at least the first two of Setanta’s exclusively live Premier League games of the 07/08 season.

Satellite/Sky subscribers who want to watch the fight with Setanta on the satellite platform will pay a fee of £15, entitling the viewer to a month’s subscription to the 8 channels in the Setanta Sports pack (including Setanta Sports 1, Setanta Sports 2, and Setanta Golf), plus a month free if they subscribe before midnight on Friday June 22, meaning viewers can again watch Setanta’s first two Barclays Premier League games.

Those who subscribe on Saturday June 23 and up until the fight, will get the fight plus a full month of Setanta action for £10.99 on Freeview and £15.00 on satellite. In both cases, there is no minimum contract period.

Cable subscribers who want to watch the fight with Setanta on the Virgin Media platform will pay a fee of £15, entitling the viewer to a month’s subscription to the 8 channels in the Setanta Sports pack (including Setanta Sports 1, Setanta Sports 2, and Setanta Golf).

The fight will also be available on a pay-per-view basis on the Sky platform for £19.95.

Setanta are putting it on Sky now and have also secured all the PPV premiership football for next season (42 games)
Interesting to see who will be doing the commentary on the fight because that will sway whether i watch it on Sky or not.
