    Default Pacquiao vs Marquez II

    http://www.newsnow.co.uk/cgi/NGoto/206413441?-1000

WBC to intercede if parties disagree

    By NICK GIONGCO

THE WORLD Boxing Council (WBC) will hold a purse briefing on June 18 in case the camps of Manny Pacquiao and super-featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez fail to reach an agreement in the next 30 days for the two to set up their much-awaited duel.

From its headquarters in Mexico City, WBC president Jose Sulaiman yesterday urged Pacquiao and Marquez’s handlers and promoters to begin negotiations for the defense of Marquez’s 130-lb crown against the Filipino mandatory challenger.

Ringsiders have been yearning to watch Pacquiao and Marquez go at it again following the controversial ending to their May 2004 showdown at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In that fight, Marquez came off the floor three times in the first round to punch his way to a 12-round split draw.

However, it would take more than just a phone call for Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank and that of Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions (GBP), to even agree to entertain thoughts of being in one room.

A legal battle is being heard in a US court over the rights to promote Pacquiao and both camps have expressed confidence over the result of the court case.

The WBC’s announcement came at a time when Top Rank and GBP have come out with minor details about their respective plans and are looking at opposite directions.

Arum is eyeing reigning World Boxing Organization super-feather titlist Joan Guzman of the Dominican Republic for Pacquiao on Oct. 6, while GBP is training its sights at a rematch between Marquez and Marco Antonio Barrera on Sept. 15.

Guzman, 31, is the leading candidate to secure a date with Pacquiao since his representatives have had the chance to talk with Arum the past few days.

Arum even hinted that a 17,000-seat arena in a hotel cum casino operated by The Venetian is ready to host a Pacquiao show in Macau.

I agree, all this talk about Pacman being p4p number 1 will be shown for the bullshit it always was.

Only annoying thing will be that then the Mexican men lovers, mentioning no names El Gamo cutmemick thebestp4p will all proclaim J M Marquez as p4p number 1 in the world instead :P

Floyd will still be #1, regardless of the winner.

What amazes me is that Marquez was dropped brutally three times in their first fight & then was able to get back in the saddle & box Pacquiao to a draw...which I personally feel that Marquez won.

It was a great night for boxing...& in the end...if Marquez boxes again...he will defeat Pacquiao.

If he tries to go toe to toe...he might taste the mat again.

That was 3 years ago (5/08/04). We've witnessed the 1-D Pac against hot prime Dinamita.

Besides Burt Clemens helped JMM to get the draw from his scoring error.

But none of that matters now.

This is it.. complete arsenal prime Pacman vs worn-out Dinamita.

    LET'S GET IT ON! C'MON!

Speaking of worn out...let's watch that Solis fight again.

There aint shit worn out about Marquez...he's just standing & figthing more now to please the fans. I wouldn't be so sure that Pac will be able to handle Marquez this go around...but either way...it should be a great fight with plenty of drama.

lets give pac a slack ok.. he has like about 99 things in his mind before that fight and that includes a legal battle between Top Rank and GBP and his candidacy in the philippine election. marquez opens up the way he fought barrera he would hit the sack more than 3 times..

    Give Pac some slack?

Please...it's his own fault if he's got too much on the brain.

He needs to pick a career...either lay offa trying to be a D- singer, D- actor, half assed politician, carpenter, plumber, veterinarian, F grade brain surgeon, tennis player, bull runner, & just concentrate on being the brick thrower of a fighter that he is.

lets look at their achivements in the past 3 yrs since they fought.

pac had 7 fights 5 kos/tkos 1 UD and 1 draw. and most will agree that in those fights he gained more in his arsenal and lost nothing.

JMM had 6 fights 2tko/kos 3 UDs and a loss(yeah it was fixed) JMM shouldve KOd chris john to avoid fixed fights anyway. for most he showed in those fights that he is gradually fading. and is slightly losing his skills as a great counter puncher.

well i believe that JMM is the only LEGIT guy who has a winning chance against PAC. JMM still has some mad skills that can extinguish pacs fury. but i bet its not enough to beat pac given that pac has some new skills too.that pac only gained more and lost none that JMM didnt gained anything, slightly fading instead.
