    Default Foreman/Ali conspiracy theory

(Most of the info within is straight from Foreman's autobiography)

Dick Sadler (the guy who gave Foreman the water in question) and George had a strained relationship up to that point. George had, at an earlier time, fired Sadler as his trainer and replaced him with Archie Moore Leading up to this fight, Dick Sadler asks Foreman for $25,000. George asks him what its for, and Sadler informs him that it is money to give referee Zach Clayton under the table, as Sadler tells Foreman that he has a tendancy to hit guys while they are down, and he doesn't want to Zach to disqualify Foreman in the event that this happens in the Ali fight.

3 rounds into the fight, Foreman has been throwing away a lot of energy with ineffective shots and is visibly beginning to tire (Sugar Ray Robinson, who was watching the fight with friends, commented that Foreman looked as though he was drugged). Instead of telling Foreman to pace himself a little more, like you would think any trainer would do under the circumstances, Sadler encourages Foreman to keep up his furious pace and keep throwing punches. Foreman is eventually counted out with what arguably seemed to be a fast count.

Is it possible that Dick Sadler was playing an angle? With Muhammad Ali as a huge underdog, one would stand to make some serious money betting on him. Is it possible that Sadler placed a large bet on Ali (possibly with the 25 grand Foreman gave him to give to the ref)?

Boxing is the shadiest sport in american and possibly world history. It used to be illegal and undeground fights were broken up by police.

Would it really be that much of a shocker to discover that Ali was not the greatest but a government super solider under mind control drugs that left him with parkie like symptoms?

that could only make him that much cooler especially considering that these "mind control drugs" allowed him to join the black muslims. Obvoiusly the number one organization in support of the US back in the 60's

    No
    In all honesty no
It was ungodly hot that night,at first Big George comes out,and Ali comes after him to test his chin
George the entire time is throwing bombs(as he would throughout the fight)I mean just big assed energy sapping punches, especially in that heat.
    Ali blocks almost everything
He does through the entire fight
George(and I really do love the guy) lived on catching you with one punch,he wasnt very fast.
He never really slowed, except at the end, when he was obvioulsy punched out
The "The ropes were loosened" conspiracy theory holds more weight then that one

Whether you like Foreman or not...one thing is certain...the man loves attention. So after all these years...he reveals in his SOON TO BE RELEASED BOOK...that he was drugged. I am sure there is no way he has book sales on his mind Bottom line...he lost to a much smarter fighter that night.

    Bingo.
Coming up with a wild controversy to hype up the release of a book is the oldest trick there is. That's all this is.

i use to think that but after re-viewing the fight many years ago, it is clear to the ref and the crowd that ALI was not hurt, and was talking to george the whole time while landing the odd sneaky right-not to hurt him just to infuriate him even futher in order to punch himself out. It really was genius game plan, thats why ali is the greatest.
george was just swinging wildly, had he takin a step back, calmed down and measured his man, it might have been a different outcome. but that wasnt george's style, he was power full-yes. but also pondereous and wild
