This is ridiculous there is no scenario out there that should have allowed Morrison to be any where near a ring again, He has a responsibilty to his fellow man and for trying to get back in the ring knowingly being HIV positive, with no confusion makes me disgusted. And the commisions as well, I'm just all round disgusted with the whole thing.

I should point out that its his "former agent" who acknowledges the tests he passed, when he said the samples "must have been switched"

    That being said
I wouldnt want to step in to the ring with him

Following a report Friday evening by the Arizona Republic in which Tommy Morrison's former agent said the boxer is HIV positive, John Stover told Sherdog.com that he remains undecided about fighting Morrison in a mixed martial arts bout Saturday at Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde, Ariz.

"Today [promoters] assured me on and on that [Morrison] tested negative and they said he's been tested 15 times over the past few years and he tested negative each time," said Stover, a six-foot-two, 340-pound fighter out of Pine Ridge, South Dakota.

"I don't know what to do other than believe them, because why would they lie to me, especially about something like that?" he continued. "Because if he and I were to fight and he was positive then that would be a felony. What do they call it? Attempted manslaughter."

According to the report published on the Republic Web site, Morrison's former agent Randy Lang said Morrison, 38, has tested positive for HIV antibodies.

"If they have proof of that test and then they're trying to push this thing through, then of course that needs to be exposed," Stover's manager, Mike Bridge, told Sherdog.com late Friday.

Since being driven out of boxing after a positive HIV test in 1996, Morrison has repeated claims that the test conducted by the Nevada State Athletic Commission was a false-positive, and he is free of the virus that causes AIDS.

Jay, Oklahoma's Morrison stayed out of the ring for 11 years before attempting to return to boxing this January. A hand injury ended that bid, and his license application to the Arizona State Athletic Commission was subsequently pulled back before blood work could be returned.

On Feb. 22, 2007, Morrison fought John Castle in a four-round bout after West Virginia licensed him based largely on documents that Lang said were fraudulent, or tests in which blood samples were switched.

Lang said he stopped working for Morrison three days after the Feb. fight because the boxer and his promoter, Peter McKinn, who is running Saturday's fight in Ariz., misrepresented the results of tests conducted in front him and Arizona State Athletic Commission Executive Officer Joe Montano.

McKinn told the Republic that he was never in West Virginia during Morrison's licensing process and that all documents supplied to the commission came from Lang.

Calls from Sherdog.com to McKinn were not immediately returned.

Stover, a self-diagnosed brawler with a penchant for bloody fights, told Sherdog Radio on Friday afternoon that he was under the impression the fight, intended to be Morrison's MMA debut, fell under the jurisdiction of the Arizona State Athletic Commission.

"I came into this with what my promoter told me," he said.

Informed that blood, heart and eye exams were not going to be administered because the bout was taking place on Yavapai-Apache Nation land, which falls outside the jurisdiction of the Arizona Commission, Stover said, "I'm not ready to commit suicide or something like that."

The heavyweights finally met Friday evening during weigh-ins for the controversial bout. They shook hands and took pictures before Morrison left.

"It's kind of flip-floppy right now," said Bridge. "We'll wait to see what tomorrow brings. [Stover's] kind of freaking out about it because we're getting mixed signals.

"As far as I know, the fight's still on."

I wonder what Tommy fired him for

The wholee thing seems odd to me. Way too much grey. I dont thin he should be allowed to fight unless he can prove to whatever commission it is,boxing or MMA, that he was tested by a licenced doctor within a certain amount of time and the nest results were 100% negative. Anything less he shouldn't be in the ring. He either has it or he doesn't.

This is a BIG BLACK EYE FOR BOXING!!!!!!!

Morrison should have tested at least 3 or 4 times before letting him back in the ring...Just on the fact that a blood sample could have went tainted or sat too long before testing causing inaccurate results...

Another mans well being was put at stake and not just by fighting....Lawsuits and shamefull apologies should be flying around any minute

I always thought it was VERY strange to hear that he was clear after all this time in the first place. I'm really shocked.

Unconvinced that Tommy Morrison is HIV-positive, 35-year-old John Stover of Pine Ridge, South Dakota has decided to step into the cage tonight at Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde, Ariz. against the former boxing heavyweight champion.

Stover confirmed to Sherdog.com Saturday afternoon that he would fight in the "glorified kickboxing" match despite a report Friday evening by the Arizona Republic that cited allegations from Morrison's former agent, Randy Lang, that the boxer had tested positive for HIV antibodies.

"Nobody has been able to come up with any type of proof that he's got HIV," said Stover, who hangs sheet rock for a living when he isn't fighting. "So I don't know what else to say."

In 1996 the Nevada State Athletic Commission revealed Morrison had contracted the HIV virus, which is known to cause AIDS. The news drove Morrison from boxing for 11 years before the 38-year-old Oklahoman returned to the ring in West Virginia this February.

In the newspaper report, Lang alleged that documentation supplied to West Virginia regarding Morrison's blood work was either fraudulent or that samples had been switched.

Lang said he stopped acting as Morrison's agent three days after the boxer's comeback fight because both the boxer and his promoter, Peter McKinn, misrepresented information regarding the test taken in Phoenix, Ariz.

McKinn, promoter of tonight's unregulated Worldwide Fighting Championship mixed martial arts card on the Yavapai-Apache Nation, told the Republic that he was never in West Virginia during Morrison's licensing process and that all documents supplied to the commission came from Lang.

"I am negative and that's that," Morrison told ESPN.com on Friday. "I will go to Vegas and have a test and have a press conference and it will be over. I'll do that in about two weeks to a month."

Standing six-foot-two and tipping the scales at 340 pounds, Stover said his is a brawling style, which can result in bloody fights.

"Seven years ago I watched my brother [fight MMA] quite a bit," he said. "He was pretty good. He was a wrestler and I had a wrestling background so I thought I'd try it. Born and raised in a fighting environment, from where I come from, is a pretty tough place. Born and raised to fight. I was good at it so I decided to keep doing it."

When asked if he felt safe stepping into the cage with Morrison, Stover admitted there were misgivings, though in the end a lack of evidence prompted him to stay in the fight.

"I see everybody is talking about how he's HIV positive, but they don't come up with any proof whatsoever," he said. "I don't see any kind of paperwork on it, but everybody has the paperwork that says he's not. So what direction should I go there? It just doesn't make any sense."

Stover said that WFC promoters showed him documentation on Friday that Morrison tested HIV-negative several times in recent years.

While he declined to disclose his purse for the fight, Stover quipped it wasn't "nearly enough for half the stuff I'm going through."

Regarding the bout's rules, which prohibit any kind of ground fighting, Stover said Morrison doesn't understand what it means to be a legitimate mixed martial artist.

"Basically he wants to get in the ring, swing 4-ounce gloves, get his name back out there and earn a couple bucks doing it," said Stover. "I don't think he has any idea what real MMA is and when he figures it out, he's going to realize it's a way of life and he's going to have to change it."

The heavyweight fight joins nine other bouts on a card scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. local time.

"I'm just going to walk out and hit him on the chin," Morrison said at a news conference on Thursday. "I'm concerned about killing someone. I'm not kidding."

Morrison prob realized that there was zippy chance of him getting back in shape and told his crew, "just go ahead and give them the real results this time. I'm done."
