Counter Attacks

This will be a rather lengthy series of damned long posts on this subject. This will be @ 8 specific counters, either to a jab or the straight right. That will be followed by left and right hand counters to left and right hand leads, based on blocking slipping parrying or ...as the defensive move used. Finally there will be some ideas on how to work the body, the purpose behind moving inaparticular way and so on. That said...(oh, from here on assume that all moves described will begin with you in your fundamental stance)
These are several useful moves for your entertainment
1) Inside Parry and Left Jab; a straight left timed to take advantage of the opening left by the opponent's jab. As he leads a jab shift the wt over a str left leg, then turn the left shoulder forward to drive the left arm to 100% extension. Simultaneously parry his left outward with the rt hand.(described in "Fundamental lows and Blocks: The Jab")
2)Outside Parry and Left Jab; jab delievered after slipping his jab over your left shoulder. Very useful toout ja a longer armed or taller foe, and it hurts the guy stepping with his jab. Use your right to parry his left inward, momentarily pinning his left on your left shoulder. Now shift forward and jab to the chinkeeping your right high.
3)Inside Block and Right Hook; a block then a punch, this is a difficult timing move. It isblocking aleft lead from theinside then shifting the wt forward andpunching to the chin. To begin lean slightly to left, parrying the left outward with thr rt. Step forward with the left leg shifting the wt forward, raise rt elbow, hook to the chin.
4) Inside Right to the Chin; a right timed under a left lead, easy to time and very powerful. To begin shift wt to str left leg, turn rt hip and shoulder to center line. Drive rtarmunder his lead to chin, carry left high to stophis rt.
5)The Right Cross; merely a rt hook crossed overhis left lead. As he jabs step forward and left w/left foot,w/o moving right arm.Shift wt to left leg as his lead passes over your rtshoulder. Hook the rt up andover his extended arm to the chin placing your left over his rt glove to prevent a counter.
6)Inside Right to the Heart; str right timed to cross under and inside a left lead. It will shorten an opponent's arms. On his left lead slip to the insideposition, drive str rt to the heart, left held high toprevent his rt counter, body lowon same plane as the rt arm. For greatest power step forward and left 6-8" w/left foot, shifting all wtover left leg.
7)Outside Parry Left Hook to Solar Plexus; this is a safe easy and fun way to work the body w/o much risk. Parry his left to the outsideposition (to your left) with your rt, drop left armperpendicular to the floor and step across to a position outside his left foot with your left foot (or your rt foot. Moreon this in a later post) Shift the wt to the front leg hook the left to the solar plexus, carry your right high.
Inside Parry Left Hook to Liver; dangerous toexecute because the entire left side of your body is exposed to hios right. It is a jarring sickening blow that lows up a foe. As he jabs step forward and left with the left foot, getting your rt glove inside his left,wt shifting to left leg. Drive hook toliver, shifting wt o the rt leg and pushing his left to the outside. Use leftleg as pivot wheel left andf out of range

No 2. A variation thats fun,
is a light push with your right hand onto the outside of his extended arm as you throw the left counter jab; so his arm naturally reacts outwards, the reverse to your push, and you let it come but remain in control with light contact ,so it gives you room for a left uppercut as you step through or under as the case can be, after your left jab has landed.
IT momemterily stops him from blocking your jab in reaction to your moves and has him falling for more of the same with no prethought allowed, only forced reactions that you already know.

Its a slip, bang, push, step in as you load the uppercut and kerbang as you move through under or through to the safe side (his arm in reaction will push you out further but also leaves the opening for your left which is still right in the mix, except the next move has dynamite strapped to it.

Nice finish for those taller longer reaching jabbers who get on you with turning and hiding behind the jab style of control, let them get away with a couple, then B,Bang.
