A brilliant performance. In those days Tszyu was more of a boxer than a power-puncher. I don't thin k Ricky hatton could have handled Tszyu if he had boxed more instead of relying so much on power at the end of his career.
This is why Mosley, DLH and Forrest himself avoided Tszyu like the plague through 90's!
None of those guys wanted to jeopardise their careers with an ugly loss to Tszyu.
Age, injury and inactivity was the final nail in Tszyu's career, Hatton just happened to be the lucky one who
was there when it ended.
His timing in that fight is just sick. That ain't right.
Thanks very much for sharing that was brilliant to watch. CC
He has the best right cross I've ever seen, it's like a pneumatic ram.
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!
Yeah man, I really miss seeing Kostya fight. I must watch his entire career at least 10 times a year. I get a couple of cases of beer and pizza and watch some destructionOriginally Posted by yoitsdan
The loss to hatton has erased the memory of most people but to be honest he just grew old overnight in that fight, he's an all time great and it can't be denied. If he came back I still think he'd knock out Mayweather, Judah or Mosley if they stood off him like I think they would. His style is made for picking off people who stay in the range that those 3 like to fight in, He just flattens them.Originally Posted by Kel

Yeah I always wanted him to fight Mayweather, his timing and accuracy (not to mention his power) was amazing and I think he would have caught him with a huge right and ended it. I base this on what he did to Sharmba and Zab, he loved to fight slick boxers they were just made for him.Originally Posted by yoitsdan
A brilliant fighter. As people have mentioned...his timing is a thing of beauty. I too would have loved to see him face Floyd in their primes. Kostya would have given Mayweather a tremendous fight.
You're right about the timing it was brilliant. If he came back now he'd crush Paulie Malignaggi even if Kostya struggled to make the weight.
He still wanst to fight, too.

Fighter's heart still beats in Tszyu
Super fighter, excellent video but it also shows you his weaknesses,v pressure fighters. Backing up hands by his sides etc.
He was AWESOME v boxers and guys who let him dictate the pace, take his time but guys that came at him hard and were able to take his power(a humongous task alone!) had a chance v him.
That's why Hatton and Phillips succeeded, styles make fights and they had the right style to beat him.
Kostya was a fantastic amateur, great skills.
For me one thing this clip really highlights however is the step from am to pro in terms of power etc.
Kostya grew so strong when he turned pro...

People dont realize that it wasnt that Zab has a weak chin, its that Kostya has a monster right hand.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
Mayweather never bad mouthed Tszyu and always had the upmost respect for him, what a shame they never fought as i believe KT would have gone the closest to beating Mayweather.
I respect every fighter who fought Tszyu and took their chances with him, DLH and Mosley should hang their heads!! Mayweather is forgiven as i know if Tszyu had of beaten Hatton that fight would have been made.
