Default If Hatton were to beat Floyd, would you rate him as P4P #1?

I would also ask how much credit you would give him for this, and I fully understand it would all depend on the manner of the victory.

For me this basically comes down to a number of things.

    1. How you rate Floyd
    2. How you rate Hatton's achievments
    3. What others around the P4P list have done

If Hatton beats Mayweather I dont think anyone can deny that he has to P4P no 1, if not 1 then a very close 2nd behind the Pacman!

Beating floyd is a great accomplishment especially considering who has failed at doing it. If it is by ko i think he'd have a solid case. Beating castillo (on the slide maybe but not completely shot by any means) and floyd (if hatton did this at a higher weight it would be an even more impressive accomplishment and would get a lot of people to quit calling him overrated and, in extreme cases, a bum) in back to back fights by ko would be incredible. If it's by one sided decision (least probable outcome of this fight imo) he moves up the rankings but probably doesn't get #1 and if its by some close and possibliy shady decision, it probably won't do him much good aside from having a HUGE name on his record. Don't get me wrong if he beats floyd, by any means, it would be huge for him but if he does it by shady decision, he doesn't do himself any favors.

Number 10 does'nt replace number 1 if they meet and number 10 wins. Rememberwhen Vernon Forrest beating Shane Mosley, Mosley was considered number 1 at the time, guess what Forrest was never regarded as even being close to the top spot. I clearly remember Larry Merchant telling him because you beat tiger Woods doesnt mean you're Tiger woods. So to answer your question if they meet tomorrow and Hatton wins Hatton wont be number 1, although floyd will also not be number 1 anymore.

I think If you stop Tszyu who was ranked in the top 3 when they fought p4p (correct me if i am wrong....i might be), KO Castillo who also seemed to have done enough to beat Mayweather in their 1st fight and then beat the p4p king (mayweather) then yes he goes staright to number 1 IMO. I cannot see any argument against it to be honest.

hatton beating pbf would be amazing but i doubt it would instantly put him into #1 pfp status...it would probably make manny paq #1 and i can't say i would really argue..

If he beats the P4P king then he should become P4P king.

Considering he would be undefeated with wins over PBF, Tsyzu and Castillo, I'm pretty sure he'd be number 1 on a lot of lists.

And no one could say that Mayweather was shot. I thought the argument for Tsyzu being way past is was wrong, but its not being a hater of Ricky Hatton just to take note that Castillo was on the slide.

I believe if Wright beats Hopkins he will be #1 for many people if Floyd looses. PACMAN needs to do something quick if he wants to stay top 3. Its a funny thing these P4P ratings. It is never clear who deserves that coveted #1 spot. Mark my words, P4P is going to look a lot different a year from now. There are a lot of players in the op 6 or 7 spots that have a shot of making the big seat depending on what happends.

If Mayweather retires or loses the new #1 pound for pound fighter becomes Rafael Marquez.
