Joan Guzman versus Humberto Soto: Is this fight being made?

Boxrec has it listed that Guzman will fight Soto on September 8.

I just haven't heard anything else about this and boxrec has been known to jump the gun. Although there must be some reason they have it listed, the promoters must at least be talking about it.

Would be nice if it really was gonna happen, very nice fight. I think Guzman's a better fighter, and has a better shot at beating Pac but I could see Soto giving him some trouble.

Anybody heard anything else about this?

I heard about this on Maxboxing and ESPN,I think it's being made and I think the winner should get a shot at Pac or JMM. I love Soto but I think Guzman is too defensively skilled. However,Soto's short straight,accurate,powerful punches could offshoot Guzman's awesome shoulder roll and Guzman has a lack of power at the weight,and can be inactive. Soto lets his hands go freely and if you don't have power to hurt him,you could be in for a long night. It should be a cracking fight!

Yer this will be one of the best fights to be made at superfeather and i cant acctually wait. it would be a war and will really decide who will challenge marquez/pac

I think if Soto pressures Guzman without getting reckless, and keeps at a distance, throwing combinations, he could maybe beat Guzman. But the speed difference will probably be too much and Guzman's got a chin too.

I hope Guzman wins even though I'm a Soto fan too. Just think Guzman-Pac is a better fight than Pac-Soto and I'm about ready to pick Guzman in that one.

CC, I knew this fight would probably interest you. Honestly, as good a fight as it is, I like both fighters a lot so don't want to see either one just get embarrassed.

I just think Soto's a bit too slow for Pac. I guess he could possibly overcome it with activity, timing but I just think he's a bit too slow. But this fight should be interesting.

I totally agree,I think Soto would be blown out by Manny in 7 or 8 rounds after a good start.I have heard even Roach say that Guzman would be their toughest fight,so I'm really interested in seeing that. Also,with Guzman being trained by Floyd senior,he can only get better.

I'm looking forward to this one, I was really hoping it would be on the Pac Man-Marquez undercard though. Having it on Sept 8 goes up against the Vargas card.

Yeah I read awhile ago they were trying to put this together, hope it comes off.

Should be an evenly matched exciting contest.

I feel Guzman's better technically & with the speed advantage would secure the decision!

They're trying to put this together as a HBO Boxing After Dark main event, it would be the same night as Vargas-Mayorga (which is on Showtime PPV).

I think Soto may be one of the 15 best fighters in the world. This would be a very interesting fight.

Really? That's a little farther than I'd go but he's a very good fighter IMO. I think people think of him as just a tough fighter with power but he's pretty solid, nice straight punches. I wouldn't be shocked if he beat Guzman but I'd still lean towards Joan.

I thought Guzman had difficulty making Super-Feather these days. If that is the case, does that mean Soto moves up, they fight at catchweight or the fight is off?
