Default Lost around $800 on a single poker hand tonight

Any card players might appreciate this.

Went to play cards tonight, started out being a $1-2 NL Holdem/omaha game then turned into a $2-4 nl a couple hours in.

I bought in for $200 and after about three hours of solid play I was sitting around $900. I was playing very well.

Omaha is like holdem except you get 4 cards preflop instead of two. The table was getting very loose, big raises.

It is a omaha hand and I had QQ88 preflop and called a high bet...around $80 along with 4 others to see the flop.

Flop was: QA3 (ace and 3 are suited)

Betting ensues (around $150) , two fold and it is now me and 2 others. I have the best hand with trip Q's but figure someone is on and will call for a flush so I dont push the pot.

    Turn: Q

I now have quads, the best hand possible at the time. I am invincible. I bet $200 one call, one fold.

River: 5 (same suite as A and 3)

Other player first to act, goes all in for about $400. I guess I know that it is possible they could have straight flush, but dont think they would have called through to see a one outer. Plus the chances they actually hit a straight flush are slim to nil. I put him on a flush at best, thinking my quads are invincible (which 99.9% of the time they are).

I am very happy at this moment being as this is a huge pot, around $1,900 I am guessing. I am thinking of all the money I have already made and am about to make.

he show KK24, the 24 are same suit as the A35...straight flush.

I cannot believe my eyes. I politely leave with $100-something left, even though I feel like crap, my legs were literally wobbly. Having lost not only a gigantic $1900+ pot, but also the $700 profit I had before that, and now am down about $60 or so on the night to top it off.

note that the $ amount isnt 100% accurate, it is my best estimation

    Anyways, it really sucked ass.

    Damn! that sucks man....

The most I've lost in a night of poker (non-casino) is 300 dlls.

Omaha is like slots mixed with cards. There's a high chance you'll hit something but your opponent always has like 20 outs by the time the 5th card comes up.

It was by far the worst beat in both dollar amount and actual hand vs. hand that I have ever had. Thinking I was guaranteed almost 2 grand profit then ending up walking away in the hole. Oh well, that is gambling.

I think I will just pretend it didnt happen.

I'm convincing myself that I donated the $2000 to charity. Maybe to an animal shelter. Or one for needy children.

I look at each gambling event by itself. If I lose 100 bucks one night but win 50 the next, guess what I'm up $50.

I know. I dont really like omaha. It was dealer's choice. I always had the dealer play holdem for me, omaha is too crazy. It's silly to raise preflop. Trips are pretty much worthless..straights, flushes, boats are all fairly common.

But quads are something else..any game where there are no wild cards quads are the nuts 99.99% of the time.

quads vs. straight flush is always tragic regardless of what it happens in. Everyone else would've made that call tho. Come on he needs both cards that beat you and his chances of having both aren't that good. I'd've lost $800 there too.

I dont regret how I played it I agree I think everyone wouldve done the same in the position. But he did have a one-outer...definitely fold-able considering the high betting that was happening. It cost him a lot to see the flop, the turn, and the river.

I was hoping he was on a flush draw and when the river hit. I was happy he hit his flush b/c I knew I would then take all his money. I just didnt want him hitting a one outer on me

I was easily over 90% favored after the turn. It's not just the hand, it's how much I lost and the fact I pretty much assumed for all real world purposes my hand was pretty much unbeatable.

CC's to you and mick for talking cards! I play a lot of poker, but will probably take a couple weeks off after this. It was a pretty devastating loss..went from a very nice profit of $700 to losing about $60 net.. Guess I could busted out on my $200 buy in, but getting up so much then losing it all on one hand hurts, especially when thinking of what I was going to do with an extra $2,000.

Lol...yeah i try not to go on tilt anymore like that. Easy way to lose the rest! That's why I just left after the hand I was talking about...I knew the little $160 or so I had left was just gonna get thrown out within the next couple of hands "hmm...got to make that $2000 back I missed out on asap!"

haha, i totally agree.. that is a BAD beat man, i feel you on that on..
I know we can all talk about our bad beats and bore each other, cause i know anyone who has played poker has seen just about all of them, but i remember on specifically from the casino..

i was probably up a few hundred already, and my friend wouldn't play no limit, so i was sitting with him at a limit table, and didn't plan on winning/losing much money at the table, just wanted to hang out with him and let him learn more about the game.. so i get dealt 9/10 off.. flop comes 3/9/10.. 2 pair.. this one guy bets, few calls, i raise, he raises, eventually i call.. next card 9.. full house for me, the nuts unless someone has pocket 10's.. same guy bets again everyone else has folded but me, i raise, we go back and forth eventaully one of use calls.. river: Ace.. so now the pot is up over 300 at this point and i'm feeling real good cause i've been winning all night and i'm about to cash in on this old guy.. we raise/re-raise each other, and the time comes to show the cards, and he shows Aces.. he nailed the full house that i had the whole time (AND WAS RAISING HIM WITH) on the river..
which brings me to my point.. I FWOCKING HATE TOURISTS!! they come just to spend all of there money regardless of win or lose.. oh, and i will never play a limit table again.

Thats a good one! Nothing like having the second nuts, then getting beat by the NUT nuts

To be honest there's nothing i like more than fucking over someone elses hand Especially if I have something nasty like 3-5 suited and they have AA. I never try to in person, I play pretty respectable in person, but when I used to play online a lot I would love to screw someones hand over then taunt them about it :P In person I wouldve gotten punched in the face with some of the things I've said in online poker rooms!

no real money ones are legal but you can still download them no problem. If they try to arrest you ask them where osama bin laden and for that fact their priorities are.
