I'd say Jim Jeffries, is a similar big punching fighter like Lewis. That being said size and punching power which is Lewis's main pluses over Johnson weren't huge factors against some other top smaller fighters such as Mercer and Holyfield II. I like both these guys, but neither was the total package that Johnson was. Give Johnson current nutrition, training and conditioning he wouldn't be questioned. It is only the time period he fought in that effects his legacy.

so 140 are you saying that no fighter before 1940's deserves a place in a respective weight classes top 10?

Well look the heavyweight division is different there is no cap on it and heavies have gotten bigger and stronger and the game has evolved i mean come on some of the guys johnson fought weren't even heavies by todays standards

If you are going to judge by those standards then Marciano/Louis/Tunney shouldn't be on a top 10 list. I think you'd be hard pressed to find just about anyone who doesn't think at least one of those three should be on a top 10 list.

Don't get me wrong I love Evander. I think the Holy's desire to get the KO caused some of his problems. He should have boxed more and slugged less, and I think he should have fought lighter closer to 200 and not 215. I think the extra muscle lead to alot of his stamina problems. I thought he beat Lewis in the rematch, but the first Lewis fight, losing 2 outa three to Bowe and the poor showing at the end or perceived end of his career make his legacy suffer. I could definately see him beating guys like Louis/Frazier/Tunney , but not prime Ali/Holmes/Foreman. Evander is the epitomy of styles make fights...But I think Johnson would be able to outpoint him and stay out of the slugfest that Evander would try to impose.
