Terry was a good honest fighter , not much power - tough - great stamina.
He won the title againest Joe Luis Manley who to be fair was the worst title holder at the time IBF,
Then he took on a faded Akio Kamada who just quit.
Marsh retired undefeated and as IBF world champ , there was talk of a match with Hector Camacho but that never came off.
(He had a draw with Lloyd Christie earlier in his career )
All in all he was good but wouldnt of lasted with the elite champs of the lightwelter division.
He was a good guy , even after he won the title he kept his job as a firefighter

He was a mediocre fighter who was smart enough to get out of boxing when he did. Any live fighter would of knocked him out

I always found his fights quite boring to be honest. In his last 2 fights though he changed his style from a stand up boxer behind the jab to a come forward swarming sort of fighter & it worked well for him, he won the title & defended it. He was very fit, no real power though.

Ha ha ha ha ha VD would crap himself if he ever ventured outside of his mum's basement long enough to meet a real tough guy like Marsh

Marsh seemed like an average European level fighter but a tough, resilient man who definitely overachieved. We'll never know how good/bad he was as he didn't lose a pro bout. Manley was an OK opponent who went the distance with decent fighters (pre-Marsh).

I would not describe him as "very talented" although he had some skills.

I kind of remember reading about when he was in nick waiting for the Warren courtcase. He went on a hungerstrike and when the screws came in to forcefeed him they found him starkers and covered in baby oil. It took 6 of them 30-odd minutes to get hold of him.....

I'm never drinking again (I am a liar)

I have that fight on DVD. Very hard to judge his skills on that fight as Kamada was so damn awkward but Marsh didn't look like he had much power in that fight. Havn't seen enough of him.

Let me guess. You think Marsh was a great fighter who should be in the Hall of Fame, right?

Kamada knocked aaron pryor down then took a beating. manley had only ever lost on points before marsh stopped him. Marsh was a good boxer and one of only a few to retire never haven lost a pro contest. So no matter what people think his record shows no losses.

I like Terry a lot, so Im biased. I thought he was a very underated fighter winning 4 ABA titles I think and unbeaten as a pro Fit good chin smart and a good Boxing brain not a puncher by any stretch but a very good fighter who didnt reach his peak. Met up last month had a talk, well I listened things dont change top lad.

You disagree with me calling him mediocre. Oh damn. He's a UK fighter. No wonder you think he was great.
