Whilst I dont fully understand what you have written of course 17 isnt too old. Go to a gym.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

    Go for it.
IF you dont you will never know.
    17 is great,no problems.
Look at the top people in the game .what have they got that the others havent got?

A brain that is used in the ring.

NAtuaral ability that is utilized by a smart team to shape their individual style .

It all starts and finishes with whats in your head.
Know your strengths and build on them .
Know your weaknesses and develop a style that covers them with your strenghts.
Above all, 1 be smarter and 2 be FITTER and 3 be more flexable than the oppositions fighter.

17 ain't too old. In fact it could be better; if you start sparring at an early age and get your head pounded a lot, you could already have brain damage by the time you're 25. Well, maybe not...
