    Default American Gangster.

I no theres a thread for this topic already, but can't remember where!

Anyway, i saw Denzel's American Gangster last night. I'm a big fan of that genre of film. (Love the Godfather, Goodfellas, Scarface etc. and the Sopranos on TV.) I remember watching the departed and being a little disappointed as itn my opinion it just didn't live up to the brilliance of Scorceeses Goodfellas and just wasn't a heavyweight of a film in my book.

But i wasn't left waiting too long to find one that i did rank!
American Gangster was brilliant, a film that i simply loved and already after my first viewing iw right up there with Scarface...
    Denzel what a legend!

Saw it in the US a few weeks ago. I wouldn't say it was the best film I've ever seen or anything but you can't go wrong with Denzel can ya?

That said Crowes character was a bit of a damp squib. Not Crowes fault really, he's just not nearly as big a character as Denzels.

i think it's up there in the gangster genre, guess it's just my thing.

Denzel did play a blinder...Crowe was ok, but the accent slipped a number of times, but tbh if he was meant to be a lovable rogue type of character he didn't pull it off well.

I loved this movie I thought it was great. I love it how in most of Denzells movies and the charaters he plays hes always smarter than anyone else in the film. Definatley ranks up there with some of the great gangster movies.

Enjoy man! Theres no one sequence which clinched it for me, it was drawn out brilliance evenly distributed over every scene of the movie

You are an intresting man, my friend. And although we only scratch the surface of your daily life, I must say it seems to be a blessed one.

I've actually never heard of it. Did you fall asleep from being exhausted or from sheer boredom?

I actually saw 48th and wolf. Its kinda one of those low budget films but I didn't think it was to bad at all considering. I mean it doesn't compare to American Gangster but still not a bad movie. I was actually a huge fan of Donnie brasco read the book and saw the film so when I saw the preview for 48the and wolf I had to see it. I mean if you like gangsters flicks its not bad.

Oh and Blood in Blood out is a classic film, I would have to say that is pretty far up there on my list of movies. I loved how benjamin bratt in the begining of the movie was such a bad mother effer, but then he turned.

Anyone ever seen "Paid in Full" I thought that was pretty decent also.
