    Default Favorite Defensive Fighters

We talk a lot here about landing punches and training to throw punches and it seems that a lot of people look up to Tyson and Roy Jones style-wise, offensively at least. I'm curious, though, who you look up to when it comes to avoiding getting your brains scrambled. For me, it would have to be Toney, McGirt, Ricardo Lopez, and JC Chavez of recent vintage, and, of course, Tunney, Benny Leonard, and Jose Napoles of "vintage" fighters.
Who do you like and why?

But if you wanted to learn textbook defense then you can't go wrong with Winky Wright.

I like fighters that dont leave the Parish to avoid the punch, those that make you miss and make you pay. But my favourite thing of all time is Baked Jam Roly Poly with hot custard yum with Pernell, Charley, SRL, Ezzard are my top 5.

Burley is good one i have only seen one of his fights though sadly but i liked what i see and im like you i like defensive fighters who make you miss and make you pay not to go off topic but i think Charles and Burley are one of the most under appreciated fighters ever.

I wouldn't class Frazier as good defensive fighter.

Bingo, with his reach and height he had to be,otherwise he was a dead man out there, very under rated because in his most famous fights, hes taking alot of punishment, but look who he's up against for god's sake

I would say Tyson had better bob and weave defense than Frazier i like Frazier but he didn't have great defense imo and he would get nowhere near my top 10 list of defensive fighters he was caught plenty by Bonavena and Quarry who are not that fast but thats just my opinion mate.

I think Tinking about it Pernell has to be the man. He always kept in the pocket and was a non puncher, that takes Bottle and belief in yourself he didnt have to many early nights. What a great fighting man, all the others had the equaliser.

I like watching Duran defensively he was really underated in his lightweight days due to his great offensive arsenal, but watching his earlier fights when he was commited he was near impossible to hit
