Default Z Gorres vs. Vic set for Feb. 2nd in the Philippines!!!

I ran a search and didn't find any news on this so here it is.

The purse bid for the IBF jr. bantamweight eliminator for between Vic Darchinyan and Z Gorres scheduledfor tomorrow (11/20/07) has been canceled. Both sides have agreed that the Gorres' camp will promote the fight onFebruary 2 in the Philippines.

    Thoughts?

Jot me down for Gorres by Decision.

I like Gorres. He's a good fighter. But I'm not sure he can avoid Darchinyan shots for 12 rounds. I think Darchinyan stops him in the middle rounds.

Something tells that Gorres can do it.
I think for the most part Gorres moves well another thing to take into consideration is that the fight is being held in the Gorres backyard.
I think that will hold some ground come fight night.

I love this site but it is a shame that this thread does not get as much attention as it deserves. Gorres is technically sound, reasonable power but his speed and power is dwarved in comparison to Darchinyan. I like both fighters. I doubt Gorres can avoid Vic's shots all night (like VD said) but Gorres has the ability t counter Darchinyan's power, come forward swinging style. i'd say Gorres to win this one by decision after hiiting the canvas. The fact that it is in the Phillipines is a huge bonus for Z to.

    vic will smother gorres....

but gorres having the pinoy fighting heart will weather it!

i say vic winning because of his skills and gorres losing but will gain more followers coz of his heart.

I don't think vic really has real skills (definitly not more thn Gorres), he seems to be just a puncher. Donaire shown thjat he can be hit often and easily.

    Well Sugar_Sh I mean JJS....
I know what you mean, everyday I spend time going thru old pages reading previous threads that don't get any responses. Some of these threads are well thought out threads. I guess sometimes people just overlook them much like we tend to overlook certain boxers.

Anyway.... I agree that the location of the fight will play a role for this fight.

When you say "Vics skills" you mean his looping punches and leaving himself open?
I say this cause IMO that's what Vic lacks the most is skill, he's fought the same way everytime I've seen him. I have yet to see him move in the ring well or out jab an opponent. To me Vic is more of a come forward and try to impose himself on you with his power shots.
I think Gorres is more well rounded then Vic here.

I'm with 'ya all the way on the skills.

I think Darchinyan maybe in fight a tough night. Gorres' fight with Montiel showed he's got talent! Vic's fight with Catubay showed that theres still a lot of improvements to be made but his power was on display as usual! Power is what I think will separate the two & lead Darchinyan to a decision win. Although I feel he'll be put to the test the entire way!

Some lateral movement,a half decent decent and straight punches will ALWAYS give Vic problems unless he improves DRAMATICALLY,which is HIGHLY unlikely at this stage in his career. I'm going for Gorres.

A Gorres win wouldn't surprise me. I like Gorres. He's a good fighter. He showed great skill and talent in the Montiel fight. But he was wobbled badly by only a decent hitter in Montiel. And Darchinyan, while not as skilled as Montiel does possess a bigger punch. If Gorres can stay away from Darchinyan power shots, he wins easily. If not than he goes to sleep
