i dont understand why people believe lewis would beat ali simply because he has a better jab and more power advantage.

these two factors alone cannot predict a fight.
wasnt foreman stronger and younger than ali? wasnt frazier more stronger than ali?
wasnt sonny liston stronger than ali?

ali was a superb boxer with high intelligence. I'm sure he would have studied lewis fights and would have devised a strategy.
ali was fast, clever, brave, solid chin and had high stamina.

he had plenty of game plans to beat an opponent.

Agreed........I don't even see Lewis as being stronger that Foreman.

Foreman's punches also had way way way more power than Lewis'.
I know it's not always about power but with Lewis' chin being what it was, I don't see how Lewis would win.

good post, some small corrections
before thw winky - tito fight most people were saying "the fact that winky has a good jab wont win him the fight"
not look how that turned out.
his intellengence wasnt good atall, his score in the IQ test was 78, not even high enough to be in the US army.

why do people even bother comparing the opponents that both tyson and lewis have fought?
just because tyson ko'd biggs in 7 and lewis ko'd biggs in 3 doesnt mean lewis would beat tyson.

frazier beat ali. Then lost to foreman.
ali beat foreman and then beat frazier.

you have to look at the overall styles ans skills and what they have achieved in the ring.

and whats with all the people discrediting tyson just because he lost to douglas and holyfield?
u want to laugh at those losses?

look at how hard douglas and holyfield had to work to beat tyson. At any time, if douglas and holyfield lost their concentration and slacked, both would have been knocked several centuries ahead in time.
fighters have to have total concentration and supreme fitness to beat tyson.

lewis has to constantly prove himself to the public. it took him ages to be recognised as a great heavyweight.

And he would have done the 'arms at his sides' dodging of haymakers just like he did vs. Liston.
That kind of defense pulls mistakes out of a power puncher, cuz then all he wants to do is knock the smartasses head clean off.

All of you who think Tyson would beat Ali are living in dream land.

Yes Tyson had alot of power and good head movement in his prime. But who did Tyson beat? The heavyweight division was not in the best of shapes. Tyson stood out in a very ordinary division, to my knowledge the best heavy weight he beat was Tubbs. I like Tyson back in the day and he has done alot bor boxing because he was exciting etc.

But I'm sorry all you Tyson fans, Ali would frustrate Tyson with his movement, his foot and hand speed, his reach, his jab etc.

Tyson would get tired in the later rounds and i feel Ali wins by a unanimous decision or possibily late stoppage.

And because I just watched both Liston fights again the other day and they are fresh in my mind.
I had forgotten how foolish Clay made Sonny look.

If I shared you conspiratory pessimism, I wouldn't be a fan of boxing.

if Ali fought Tyson in his prime the fight would be nothing like the Liston fight.

You have to remember, if you are talking Prime Mike, you have to be talking Prime Ali.
Prime Ali wouldn't have been scared like all the guys (slobs) Mike fought in his prime.
Ali would get Mike into the later rounds & embarrass him into mistakes.
