    Default 20 pee = ? cents

I found a bit of British currency in a grocery store parking lot.

On the back it says 20 pence 1982 and shows a flower and a crown. On the front it says Elizabeth II and shows her I assume. How much money am I holding?

Is there a lot of American coin floating around the UK?

Okay BG you found a 20 pence piece which which is 20% or 0.2 of £1.

If your looking how much your holding in terms of cent then:

    £1 = $2 so therefore 50 pence = $1

20% of £1 as I stated is 20p British currency
20% of $2 dollars Cents is 40 cents US Currency

So your holding the equivalent to 40 Cent or cents US currency

To answer your question no I have never seen any US coins or even dollars in the UK, most probbably because the £ is expensive for you guys and then you don't wanna come and visit us or maybe because Bilbo is in our country and that is another valid reason. No but seriousley I have'nt ever even seen Euros being used in the UK and they're acceptable in most stores.

Thats one thing i love about the US, for us the $ is really cheap so we spend, spend, spend in your country, and of course the I love the people

Basically, when I were a kid, when that coin was made in the year of my birth, you could have bought a bag of sweets, a Beano and a bag of crisps and go home to your mum with three or four pence change....nowadays it'll buy you absolutely nothing. Maybe a really small pack of crisps or something so insubstantial you might lose it in the wind.

20 pee if you ever have to pay for one.a pee,
Your carrying around a 'one free piss token'.

Thanks for the explanation, Leftylee. And for the walk down memory lane, Rhun.

This 20 pence coin is a priceless treasure to me. It is the closest I will ever come to visting the UK. Except for my Fawlty Towers series set.
