these gals are copying Dusty Springfield (who copied all the American girl groups of the 60's)...but yeah, Dusty was the shit
But she was no Ronnie Spector

How did Dusty become a star? I just watched the clips and think she's just like a cruise ship singer.
In fact she looks more like a television news presenter performing for Comic Relief or Children in Need than a modern popstar.
I have to say music has moved on. Even some of the X Factor girls are better than her.
I'll go out on a limb and say that youtube singer Alexa Goddard is better than Dusty

Bilbo, you deserve a swift kick in the balls after posting that shit Dusty Springfield is a legend!
Without any doubt it's this guy!!!
The South London man has already had 2 number one Singles (both below) and a number 1 debut album as well as 2 other top 5 hits.
Not bad for his debut year really and Jay-Z has already shown massive interest in getting him over to the US.
TINIE TEMPAH
Love written in the stars
Cracking tune
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough
Charley Burley
Tinie is quality no doubt, but is he two responses good though smash? Personally, I'm liking :
The rest of Devlin's stuff can sound a little bit samey, but this is really good.
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
the big fat ugly ginger bird that was 'chasing pavements' years ago. It's hardly new. It's hardly origonal. It's hardly good. And it's not like you can wank over it.
I like Tinie Tempah but I think this is all just typical 'newcomer hype' the same that Dizzie got before he had to resort to rapping about being bonkers, having holidays and DISCO DISCO DISCO.
I like Professor Green. I think if it came down to a freestyle battle, he'd kill anyone in the UK.

On the whole I avoid female singer songwriters as they are usually shit, but I quite liked that Adelle song posted by Big H earlier in this thread. I had never heard of her before reading through this thread.
I can't stand Amy Winehouse who has been mentioned by others. I just don't understand the appeal with that one.
