Default update from february 2005, "is 36 too old to start boxing"

i started boxing in February of this year. i am 36 years old. alot of you on this forum said i was too old to start boxing but i have already lost 24lbs and have proven to outwork most 21 and 22 year old's in my gym. i have mastered the basics and have one of the straightest jabs and cross' my coach has ever seen. l. my hand eye coordination is still on the money. don't be surprised if you see me ranked among the best in the coming year. its a pipe dream but its MY dream. i am at 227lbs right now and am working on getting down to 197lbs by July. my training began on the streets of the Bronx. my formal training began in February. wish me luck.

    daniel,
why would you think a black man would be any "stronger" than any white man, or stronger than any other man for that matter. if you have the determination to succeed, whether in boxing, and or, life, business and family, you will succeed. if you have "the fight" in you, no man will stop you.

and remember, all men are created equal, so to say that black men are stronger, or insinuate that black men are stronger than any other "color', is foolish and typical of our American social thought. Blacks are feared in this country because of the stereotype they are given. thats all. the media and liberal thinking make white people "afraid" of blacks. blacks are still persecuted and held down in our society.

so, needless to say, i am white, and very proud to be of italian and irish descent and i would fight any color you put in front of me.

    Me too,just joking with you,sorry.

Im White by the way, probably rather be black if the truth was known.

Doesnt matter what you are bro, but unless you ve got Michael Jacksons contacts, its sure hard to change from one to the other.

I belive the darker races have a different muscle fiber structure than whites?. Fast Twitch flex or something like that, is it called?

no offense taken from anyone. i am white as well. blacks have an extra layer of muscles on their caves only. there is no evidence that race exists at all. there was a study done by a group of Italian scientists that prooved, with a ten year study, that race does not exist. race is a man-made institution, so for anyone to say that blacks are better fighters than whites, is rubbish. any muay thai champion can kick the crap out of even the best boxer. most champion muay thai fighters are white now.

all the hype about fighting and who is better makes me want to win even more!!!! i use negativity to fuel my passion to win. for everyone who tells me i am too old, makes me wabt it even more.

i also doent take offense to any jokes by the way. i can joke about anything.

    meunouk,

where did you read that whites have more "slow twitch" muscle fibers than blacks? i have been through just about all of the science courses and a&p courses in college and i have never heard of any degree of variance in muscle fibers between blacks and whites. if that is true though, it is an evolutionary trait that blacks must have developed because of the fact that they were prodominantly located in the southern hemsiphere of the world, hence the balck skin from the sun, and the extra, and or, different muscle fibers they supposedly have due to hunting and running after their dinner. this is not a joke either, it is a sociological fact. PLUS, most southern hemisphere nations produce great fighters because they are poorer countries. look into it if you dont believe me. thats why the "white man" rules the earth. the white man controls the money, and the poor sothern hemisphere countries always produce better fighters because they have to work harder to gain a better way of life. in the US, and most other g7 countries, we have it made!! aside from the terrorist threat, we all live a pretty good life.
