Anderson Silva once said in his PRIDE days that he was the Roy Jones Jr of MMA :P
But in all reality if you take away Andersons legs and his grappling ability away from a fight there's no way he beats Roy.
Judging by the article there is legitimate interest on both sides.
BTW - Check out the end of the article for a good little laugh. That guy can't be serious.
Jones would knock his ass out
Dana wont let this happen. Sillva would get KTFO in rd 1 and UFC would lose all its credibility.
In a Cage rage event I saw Anderson Silva rocked during a trade in stand up by a guy from London. Anderson immediatly took it to the floor and won on stoppage on the ground a minute or two later.
In a completely stand up battle, Silva is beaten by many in BOXING OR MMA.

if its just boxing, jones will win. if its anything more then just boxing silva kills jones within a minute.
two diffrent sports!
Bad idea. On the off-off chance that he beats Roy it would lend legitimacy to MMA. That being said, Roy pummels Silva if this happens, if Roy is serious about taking a championship run he shouldn't take the fight. Dana White likes having exclusivity; he doesn't like UFC fighters doing anything anywhere else so more than likely it won't happen anyway.
Whole heartedly disagree.. MMA guys ALL MMA guys are rocked in stand up ALL of them just about in every fight..
Silva is a worldclass Muay Thai practioner those are some of the most grizzled tough fighters in the world I have seen many of Anderson's fights his stand up and even striking with fists only is PFP best in the sport.
Its like saying I saw Lou De Valle knock down Roy Jones so most would dominate Jones in an exchange.

I realise that the gloves in mma are smaller and therefore it is common to see guys rocked. But in this fight against curtis Stout, he was badly rocked by some of Stouts punches, which were very poor.
Oh and by the way:
Silva made his professional boxing debut on August 6, 2005 at the Antonio Balbino Gymnasyum in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. He knocked out his opponent, Julio Cesar De Jesus, in the second round.

You know what he really wants?
That's what he really wants and he knows fighting RJJ will get him that. Much much more then what he'd make in a MMA fight.
