Default Ryan Rhodes - New British Champ

Rhodes wins British title by KO'ing Gary Woolcombe in the 9th Round.

What a great result for the likeable Shefield fighter. I can't believe it's 10 years since Rhodes last won this light middle title from Paul Silky Jones....

Rhodes no longer the good looking Spice Boy... 14 years and a good few hard fights have removed the boyish good looks that gave him that nickname showed flashes of his old self last night throwing quick flashy unorthadox shots - an especially accurate and hard leaf right hook looked very dangerous through out the fight and in the end gave him the one punch KO.

I met Ryan Rhodes when I went to see Naseem Hamed promoting his fight with Daniel Alicea in Newcastle. Of all the fighters I met that day including Naseem and Jonny Nelson - Rhodes made the lasting impression - a good looking kid just starting his journey he was such a down to earth friendly guy who took all the time he had and more to sign autographs and talk with the fans,

I hope this proves to be an indian summer in Rhodes career and he can make some nice money out of it. Light middle is a competitive divsion especially in Britian and there are some great fights out ther for him. I'm looking forward to the Spice Boy giving us some more fantastic nights before it's over !!!!

Rhodes always had fantastic ability and technique. A very good win for him even though it lost me a few quid.

Yeah the boyish good looks and mop of blonde hair are as distant as as Chelsea title hopes this season.

Just watched the re run on Sky it really was a peach of a right hook that won the fight Woolcombe never knew what hit him - up next Pele Reid - haven't seen the result yet so gonna watch it now. Pele was always exciting... if somewhat limited

Yeah forget any talk about a Naz comeback. He hasn't fought in 6 years and was on the slide then. He looked like he weighed more than Jonny Neslon last night... As Naz said - Forget about him and lets get behind a resurgent Ryan Rhodes. European title is certainly not out of the question for Ryan IMO.

Rhodes experience won him that fight more than his skill, beautiful KO.

Pele looked worse than before, he should stick to kick boxing.

Yeah funny thing time... I remember when he first started all speed reflexes and the aura of invincibility that youth brings. He seems to have learned from his wins and his losses. Woolcombe is young enough to come again lets hope he learns from this loss.

Pele really was awful and at 35 or 36 ? has no where to go. He missed with a big punch and was all over the place. Had no idea what to do when he got caught.... and he's to fecking old to do that spinning kick he used to do before each fight
