These boys wrote more rock and roll songs than most.
Johhines dead of course but the famous Mick Green every lead guitarists icon took over; the rest of the bands surviving members still played live up until a few years ago.

    1956 to 200?

Play this one for your old dad, he'll remember who really rulled the r&r club scene in the 60 's .

    ....uh huh well that's great.

My favorite British Invasion band would have to be Eric Burdon and The Animals and maybe The Dave Clark Five closely behind them.

The Stones beat everyone else though.

As per individual talent it's all USA: Elvis, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly, Little Richard, Roy Orbeson, etc etc etc.

Why the uh huh Lyle dont you like their sound? Or dont you belive they wrote 'shakin all over?'

Roy Orbison ,what can you say other than "there is the real king" , his voice and his range and his emotion through the delivery is the best.
Didnt have the frills that the others chose to wear and the marketing etc, so it took more time for the world to catch up to who he really was.

Chuck Berry too, raw and amazing, he would have studied all of Robert Johnstons original songs and guitar riffs from the 30's.

The others you mention are more popular but popular and leading the pack doesnt mean your always the best at any paticular song just means the masses got sold your stuff better on the radio and your ear got attuned.

The masses have a taste for what they are served up. What they are served up on mass is often remixes of more raw earthy originals that the kids today and some people of our era too wouldnt have a clue were once written and were hits by others in some countries that never released them outside of their local areas until now.

We are all so lucky that you guys in the States had people with enough vision to go around and record originals back in the late twenties and thirties all the way down south even into the jails, everywhere blues was being written your national archives guys went. How was that!

They are all fine and dandy but I'll be damned if you discount Elvis' talent.

#1 songs on the Rock'n'Roll, R&B, Country, AND Gospel charts....so dude you can just give it up now. Elvis is THE KING for a reason and his stage presence was unmatched. There were 4 Beatles...3 members of The Rat Pack, and Elvis did it all by himself!!!

Orbison was great but Elvis was incredible!!!!

Sure it's cliched to like Elvis but listen to anything he did and he OWNS it even the songs he covered.

James Brown also another legend....Sinatra, Martin, and Davis Jr. as well....Tony Bennett was great too but that's a different type of music

I llke Elvis not discounting him. King of stage maybe King of all the money and radio ,silver screen and girls thoughts too.

Just talking music and or voice, Roys voice technically was so much more.

Like The Canadian whats her name Celene Dion she has the best technique and pitch variation bar none but she has to work uphill against popular Amerian demand for others more ...how do you say..out there and amongst it.

    Striesdand another miracle voice.

    Andre Botchelli

You ever heard Loreena Mckennit ? shes underated by her music choice alone.

The bald chick Shanae O'conner another underated voice by not conforming visually.

Elvis' voice was great.....maybe you had better try listening to his Gospel music.

In a way it's like comparing a muscle car to a luxury sedan when you compare Elvis to Andrea Botchelli. One might stylistically be a fine car with all the bells and whistles but the other is just as good but with more feeling and more of a heart.

Elvis owned every song he has ever sung and he just put his soul into what he sang.

Feel free to have your own opinion but The King is THE KING

That's good stuff.....but it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges isn't it?

Sam Cooke and Otis Redding were awesome as well.
